Does it show when the last update of status was , it may be that it simply hasn't updated since some point in time which happens to coincide with when the dots were unlocked
Is it he car parked in a garage where there is bad or no gsm coverage ? If so it may not have been able to update its status centrally to bmw. |

It shows updated from yesterday but I checked several times today already so maybe its not updating?. It says the trunk is open when it is not and the sunroof is closed so I think it just thinks the trunk is open all the time now.

Are you able to send commands successfully to the car? Like Remote 3D View if you have that option.
That will force the car to wake up and refresh its data. Will help you get an idea where it is failing. Keep in mind, the car uses AT&T for its data connection. Outside should have a better signal, but AT&T signal could be poor where you're parked preventing it from accurately updating. |

I had same problem the other day. The app said trunk open and I immediately went to my garage and found out the car was locked and trunk was closed. Tried to refresh app but still showed trunk open. So I guess it was due to poor service in my garage.

Mine stopped communicating a few days ago. I called BMW support this morning, and did the following procedure to make it work:
- Hold power on the radio until iDrive resets - Go to Apps > Installed Apps > THEN push the physical "Options" button. There was an option to check for updates. Leave it checking and don't push anything else. - I didn't do this, but they told me after that let it run through a sleep cycle (let car sit locked for 30 minutes). -What I did do was notice that in the notifications, there was an app updates message again, and privacy notices. I let it update and also made sure it had full access for the privacy settings. I did check the privacy settings before all of this started, but the app updates must have triggered a reset. It is updating correctly now. |

We'll, the problem seems to have resolved itself with no intervention from me. Don't know how or why but glad it's working again. Thanks all for replying and/or making suggestions.

Same happened to me, app said the trunk was open and I tried opening and closing it twice. For some reason the reset fix and updating apps didn’t work for me, so I played with the data privacy options by switching between them and that seems to have done the trick. We’ll see!
