This Route 66 only appears to cover head gaskets only. On Bmw's the valve (cam) cover and oil pan gaskets are usually the problem.

Post some language. We all bought an exclusionary contract. None of this was excuded on my contract.

That's a really good price.
I bought mine back in October for $2700 for 7 yr/120k miles with under 15k miles on the odometer for my 2020 M550.
I did notice you dont list a G30 in your signature. That would make a big difference in pricing comparisons.
If you did get Route 66 with a G30, please list which one.

Peace of mind with 0 deductible, is Bliss!

I am looking soon to purchase an M550 or M850i. I looked at what's covered on the Route 66 on my CU website. I see that your contract covers mfg warranty items so that answers my concern on RT 66.

Yeah, it would be in your best interest to read this thread in its entirety.

I will be putting RT 66 to the test once again some time next month. I have a clicking sound that is common, if it is tied to the steering rack we will see if that get covered. I believe it would. I have a slight vibration which I believe is a worn out/cracker flex disc. This item I am not sure RT 66 will cover but I will push for it with the dealer since they will get paid and they can essentially word the issue that premature failure perhaps. I have 28k miles. I am satisfied with RT 66 since it has already paid for itself with the one claim I had with coolant lines.

This thread was extremely helpful, so wanted to post what I learnt in case it helps other folks in the future who might be looking for a Route 66 Extended Warranty.

1. If you need to find a local credit union, go ahead and call Route 66 - 1800 808 0828. I gave them my zip code, and they provided a number of options. You can also verify that they cover your particular car - just give them the VIN.

2. I ended up going with Hanscom, since they had the best price and Ewa was easy to work with. For a 2020 BMW M240i xDrive with 34k miles, I was able to add on 7 years/120k on the odometer, I was quoted 2875 for the EasyStreet included the EEP coverage (for GPS, screen, etc.)

3. If you need to join Hanscom (I am in California) they have a couple of local non-profits you can join and then apply for Hanscom. I used the Theater group, $12 annual fee.

4. I found this brochure for the different plans to be quite helpful, so linking here
https://www.bestfinancialcu.org/cust...SC_Deskmat.pdf

Cheers

Indeed, this thread was very informative.

I understand that this page is for G30 5 Series - but wondering if anyone has any experience getting RT66 warranty on f15 X5. I reached out to Ewa, she was very helpful and prompt. She informed me that X5 coverage is only limited to First Street Plan. Main and Easy street plans do not cover X5. I reached out to another CU in FL, I got the same information - CU representative couldn't find Easy Street plan for X5. Posting here to see if anyone has the similar experience.

On separate note - anyone familiar with MemberCare coverage? PenFed seems to cover X5 but they use https://membercare.com/ as their service provider. Online reviews are all over the place, as usual.

I don't have any answers for you, but I do find it interesting how they offer such elaborate coverage for cheap on an M550, but they won't take on an X5. Maybe it's the age? The F15 ran from 2014-2018, but they had no problem covering my '18. I have no idea what the reliability record is on the F15, maybe that has something to do with it. Good luck.

I asked for a quote from DCU for Route 66 when I bought out my 2020 X5 lease in 2022 and the only plan they offered was the basic First Street coverage for 36 months. Think they just classify the X5 in a higher risk tier (more expensive $$ repair category). Believe they also limit you to First Street on 7-series and 8-series. We probably luck out that they group all the “5-series” together and don’t distinguish between 530/540/M550. My M550 has CPO coverage thru October but will probably get the Route 66 warranty at that point. Had to go with Fidelity for my X5 in order to get an exclusionary warranty for longer term and it was a lot more than these Route 66 quotes everyone is sharing for the 5-series.

Route 66 covered a valve cover gasket, motor mounts, and oil pan on my car. I'd guess I'm around 30% ROI.

Welp...I got a low coolant warning again and I smelled coolant through the vents. Looks like I have another leak after the first one was addressed in Sept last year with a coolant expansion tank replacement. We will see what it is this time.

Does anyone know if repairs done under the original BMW factory warranty carry the typical 1-year warranty for work performed at dealerships? I am taking it back to the same dealer. If not, it'll be time to whip out my Route 66 EW and see how it goes.

I’d think it would be covered if it’s the same part. I meant to ask when mine was in. I’ll ask next month when I take the X7 for an oil service. That’s discouraging to hear it has potentially failed again so soon.

They just issued a bulletin and stop sale on 2019-2022 F90’s for their tank leaks.

It’s probably not the tank this time. If you are smelling it through the vents, is that after the car is hot? It’s probably the turbo coolant lines. I’m pretty sure our coolant issues are either the tank or the lines. I’ve had the lines done, just waiting on the tank.

MY20s came with the updated braided lines though. Would be surprising if those leak too and this early (52k miles).

Yeah let's see what it is. A tank leak again in 10 months would be ridiculous. Would indicate BMW has some serious QC issues.

You are correct! The tech just sent me an inspection video and there's a leak in one of the lines. They have to remove a bunch of stuff that he pointed out to get to it, but I'm relieved it's not the expansion tank again.

Let's see how the experience with Route 66 goes. I'll update here of course.

Apparently Route 66 doesn't cover coolant hoses is what the dealer said when he spoke to them. Can anyone confirm? The dealer cost is $1700 lol. I will take it to an indy in that case.

There's a TSB around for this, right? But I suppose not for the My20.

Edit: The video shows the leak is from the clamp area at the top of the engine (no residue or anything around the clamp so looks to be fairly fresh). Should I just try replacing the clamp myself? It seems very minor and doesn't look the line itself is compromised. BTW, I confirmed with Route 66 that they do not cover hoses.

That sucks to hear because the 2020 should have different hoses than earlier models. Part of the N63 upgrades I believe. If it’s the clamp, I guess maybe the new lines do actually work better. Keep us posted.

I didn’t know that about Route 66 but I’m not shocked. A hose seems like what they’d call a “wear item” or some such terminology.

I had my expansion tank replaced 3 weeks before my CPO expired.

Now I am rolling with no warranty. YOLO I guess. I don't drive the car much to justify an extended warranty.

FWIU, the 20+ had the udograded braided aluminum lines, so they aren’t part of the TSB and that TSB wasn’t a recall or an extended warranty anyway, just a bulletin to use the new lines.

Now as much as the new and improved lines are better, I suppose they aren’t bulletproof proof, but I was hoping they would be a longer term failure, like 100k miles. That sucks.

I’m not sure I’d try a DIY and just clamp one area. These engines run hot. I’ve seen the tips of the lines and where they go in and what you are talking about. I bet others are on borrowed time.

That is disappointing on Route 66 but I don’t recall hoses being a listed exclusion. Look at your contract closely and I think I posted it in this thread too. Further, I could swear someone with Route 66 had the lines go and they covered it.

There been a few claims people posted where they had to push back on Route 66 and then they came through, which is a hassle and annoying, but don’t give up.
