Front colloison sensor issue???? Car image screen keeps popping up???? What is issue?
For past 2 months the car visual screen (like the one that comes up when ur parking and getting too close) pops up for no reason specially in traffic or behind a car and not too close. It usually happens with white colored cars i noticed. It makes the beep sound one time and appears
I took to dealership twice. First time they tested senors and all was good and then they reprogrammed software and senors supposuly Now went back and did it again..... they checked and said there Good. Why is this screen with visual keep popping up it never used to do this ..... sad not the best bmw techs cant find the issue and saying sensor is good? If all else fails at Vista, take it to Lauderdale BMW for a second opinion. Don't be afraid to involve a reputable independent BMW repair shop for diagnostic and another opinion. These sensors are generally OK but they tend to be bitchy. If the dealer doesn't see a code stored they will say nothing is wrong and move along. You could have a defective sensor that shorts out of the blue. Unfortunately, the sensor would have to get worse before it gets better for them to replace them.

Keep them clean. These things tend to malfunction in the presence of grime and dust. Sensors are wonderful when they work as intended but a pain the ass when they start acting up and unfortunately you can't escape these in the vast majority of new cars today. If water has made it to the sensor they can fail. It is just an electronic component. I can't imagine dealing with these as they age! Next time you are up Vista ask to speak with the shop foreman. If you don't escalate past the service advisor, you ain't getting this resolved. By nice, courteous but firm. The squeaky wheel always gets the grease!

Replacing the PDC unit is a matter of unplugging the old one and plugin the new one and good to go. Well worth trying to pursue a PDC unit replacement. They have to isolate the problem to either bad sensors or a defective PDC box. Good luck!

This is the PDC control unit used in the 5 and 7 Series.. Retails for about $80-$100 bucks.
