BMW's display at Villa Erba...
Every May, BMW AG puts on one of the nicest classic car shows in Europe. Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Situated in the heart of Lake Como, Italy - this show is not to be missed! Most of the show is by invitation only... but its also open to the paying public. Everyone goes to the main event at Villa d'Este, but there are always some hidden jewels down the street at Villa Erba! IMHO the best treasures of BMW are always on display at the Rotunda at Villa Erba.

LOVE the new 2002 Hommage....best looking BMW since the 1M. it's old school and modern at the same time...just like the E82.

Thanks Dackel.... The shot of the 2002 Hommage looking down to me actually gives the representation of the original much more that I have seen in previous photos.... The 328 and M1 need to happen... In fact most of the concepts should! Of course I have a soft spot for the E36 in what appears to be Techno Violet as my Dad had an Msport convertible. Very enjoyable and leaves me

More concepts should see the green light for production series!
i8 is a design masterpiece, has an awarded engine, but I still think that BMW didn't go all the way with it in the sport department 😠 Maybe that Z5 M will be the sport car waited by so many enthusiasts! |

The 328 hommage is gorgeous.
And the 2002 hommage is sporting the wheels BMW should have used as the Competition Package wheels.

Dack, As always such a great post. Your pics are so much better than the BMW photos. They almost made me feel the lake air there at Lago di Como, all the way from the Republic of Korea.

Thanks for an awesome thread that is very educational. Did not know that BMW made so many new versions of classics and the side by side comparison is very nice! Wish some of these made to production though. Wish I was there!
