Question Ordering 2021 540i - Need help with rates

Hi,

I'm close to ordering (buy not a lease) a 2021 540 xDrive and am negotiating the price currently. I have an initial offer from the dealer for 3% off MSRP plus any additional incentives which would be available when the car arrives. I still need to get back to them on this.

My current BMW lease ends in September and I'll be eligible for the loyalty incentive. The dealer didn't give much information on what kind of incentives might be available which the car arrives.

Looking at some recent posts here, it seems people are getting above 12% off MSRP on 2020 models. I would like some advice on how much I should negotiate for.

Thanks

You should try to find a broker on leasehacker and shop out of state. For MY21 my broker is able to get around 10% off.

I’m also in Seattle and the dealers here are not great with discounts. If you don’t want to go with a broker, the least you can do is get a quote from Portland dealers, they give me a better deal than the Seattle ones.

I am at 9% off a 2021 M550 prior to incentives via a broker. Ordered and pending production in July.

I got 5% off MSRP from Portland and I'm trying to use that to negotiate with my local dealer, hoping to get close to 6% (plus incentives). I couldn't find any brokers here so I'm pretty much out of options.

I'm being offered 6.3% off MRSP, but dealer states I can only do the financing with BMW. Does not sounds well to me, I would like to get pre approved with my bank before going to the financing dept.

My 2020 purchase was 12% off MSRP when I negotiated it.

You can get financing from wherever you want to - trust me they'll take the money no matter what bank gives you the check.

Negotiate out the best deal you can, and if you aren't happy, go to other dealers in the area and work with them.

Get your price for the new car settled first, then talk trade-in (the trade is not part of the price negotiation), then shop around for financing and get the best terms you can for your budget. Once your pre-approved by your lender, then see if the dealer is willing to match or give you better terms.

Anytime. I used my lender's car buying program, so that helped quite a bit. I'm also a veteran, so that provides other discounts.

If you're interested, I'm maintaining a thread on my experience with the ordering, manufacture, and delivery of my new MY 2021 M550ix.

Here is my theory. The dealers needs to make their sale in order to feed their family, get their hold back +processing fees, kickback from sales, and other appreciations and awards. As far as from a customer point of view. I am looking to get the best deal on a car so i can drive happily knowing " its really nice and i got a good deal" vs " they jack me on price and I feel regret while driving". Those 3-5% discounts are for people who don't do their research and go buy a car blindly. For us users here, I WILL NOT take any price less that 10% off MSRP + rebates and discounts. I will give that business else where.
