Is coding necessary for lumbar ?

I have standard M-Sport seats without lumbar or memory function

I'm thinking of adding lumbar by using the parts (bladder, pump, switch panel) from a second hand seat.

Does anyone know if this is just plug and play or is any coding required ?

I know with memory seats there would have to be communication between the various ECUs but would have thought non-memory seats would only need power - however knowing how complex BMWs are I wouldn't be surprised if it was harder than that

Any experience or tips welcome

Yes, I did take the lumbar bladders and pump assembly from a scrap memory seat and installed it in my standard semi-electric seat
The bladders and pump all fit in no problem but I had to make a few wiring changes
Also the control panel on the side of the seat base is not interchangeable between semi-electric and memory seats.
So not a completely straightforward job but I did achieve what I needed
