F90 M5 - hydraulically assisted or E-Steering?
Has anyone seen any literature regarding whether the next-gen G30 M5/5-series will have electronically assisted or hydraulic steering?

Drove my Dad's new 2016 MX-5 Miata over this Christmas Break. I was surprised to see that even that car now has Electric Steering. Absolutely no feel at all but like BMW very precise. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the driving feel, but I can see how important it is for the ES system to make the weight of the Miata lighter than the previous generation.
I feel like unless you are getting a Porsche, Electric Steering feel is going to suck.

The new Jaguar F Type has newly developed Electric Power Steering. It's as good as their previous hydraulic set-up, they say.
I guess it depends on who is implementing it and how it is implemented.... |

When we came back to NY, I took the excuse of getting milk to drive the M5 and I was redeemed.

That's too bad because the steering feel has been getting worse by the year. IMO F10 M5 steering isn't great but average relative to past offerings. Perhaps they will figure out a way to improve upon it with electric.

I'm no M5 driver but in terms of steering feel, the best I've encountered to date by a long long way was the E39 (not V8) . Nice and heavily weighted, you knew exactly what the front wheels were doing.

Makes me want to just buy an e39 M5 and keep forever.

No kidding. Although I have my eye on a 6MT E60 M5 first before I get the E39.
