The competition shows it's hand...2017 E Class

Well...it's a big C. I suppose for most here, that means they will hate it.

I'll wait until I see it in person. I hate the C in pics but don't mind in person..

Looks like a large C Class. Which is not a bad thing

I'm really going to miss the quad lense setup that set the E-Class apart from the rest of M-Bs sedan lineup. Not a fan of the exterior shape at all.

The Rolls/Bentley wannabe @ss fit the E a lot better than the C. Not awful as the C and I'm sure pretty fitting for the average E buyer but not to my taste for sure.

no contest...
hideous as ever...
On a German-vehicle-specific scale, this design is a joke!
BMW can eat this segment up if they are smart about it...

Suggest you see an occulist.

Also suggest that check back in 24 months and check the sales numbers. It won't be as lopsided as you predict.

Thanks for your suggestions...
I'm glad that there are folks who like this design so they don't crowd the streets with too many BMW's///
Someone's ought to drive this car anyways...right?!

I find the interior to be quite nice. However what stopped me from looks at MB is maintenance packages they sell. Also not as favorable on lease residuals and money factor. It is nice though if they have some incentives for moving from competitor I might consider.

If you are not seeing favorable lease residuals or MF's, you are at the wrong dealer or looking at the wrong model. MB's got some stupid cheap leases out there (i.e. great numbers and cash to support it) for their core C and E models. That tails off with the AMG models and the higher end engines.

You don't have to buy the maintenance packages. I would never buy a maintenance package from any manufacturer. It's simply not worth it. And now that BMW's "free" maintenance is down to 3/36k and has taken off things like brake pads, essentially all it consists of is 2-3 oil changes. And even that's laughable as they program the OCI to come on after 10k-12k miles.

Jaguar has picked up the mantle of best included maintenance now.

Jaguar's maintenance plan is on 16,000 mile / 1 year intervals and does not cover wear items (brakes, wipers, etc.).

BMW's revised oil service intervals occur approximately every 9K.

Well, I put a deposit down at fletcher jones in Newport to get to build my own when the E63 comes out. Will probably be in the fall.

I think the new interior is amazing. Looks like an s class.

I mean...it looks like the C and S.....that's the whole point. They all look the same, just a different size.
Same as the 3, 5, 7...they all look the same. A4, A6, A5, A8.....all the same. This is a way that car makers are cutting costs.

New S is nice....but not as "wow" as I thought the last generation S was when it came out. Same with the new 7....saw one in person and just wasn't impressed. I think the new 5 will look great....that just seems to be a great looking car every time (especially with the size....the styling just look perfect on that size car....meaning mid-size).

I would like to hear your explanation on how similarly styles vehicles "cut costs".

Designing cars isn't cheap......much cheaper when you basically are just stretching out or shortening the models. Pretty common sense.

This just simply isn't true. The cars may look similar, but there are enough differences as to make it just as time and labor intensive as a completely fresh design. In fact, more. Since you are trying to carry over style lines onto a body of different proportions, it is tricky to maintain the same look without the resulting car looking odd.

Very true.

For me, this new E looks good. The rear is a big improvement over the current car.
