I'm in the UK, and ordered my G30 M Sport on 11th March. The order status is at 1200, with production starting on 16th April. I wanted to add some extras to the car which I now think are a necessity, but the dealer reckons it's too late.

Is this true?

I just called for my dealer and BMW NA and they cannot change anything since it's in production. All I wanted to change is the tire/rim to the black style 664 and they can't even do that.

What does the genius say?

Genius says talk to the dealership, which I've done. Just got the impression that now they've got the sale they're not too worried about going out of their way to add anything else on. I could be wrong, just wanted to know if others had managed to get their spec updated after their order, and what status their car order was at I guess?

I felt the same way with my dealer, sold car and can carless about me now lols

I think that 1200 is the lock down on the build slot for changes. If you did change you would drop the build slot. You could cancel and reorder but it would out you back looking for another build slot.

What did you want to add?

I wanted to add the Icon Headlights as I didn't realise that LED as Standard meant just the absolute basic of basic LED. I should of known better of course.

You might have to cancel the order, but the decision is yours to make. If you had added auto high beam assistant and adaptive functions to the basic LED, the functionality is then close to that of of ICON LED. If aesthetic is very important to you, you would be reminded of ICON LED all the time when you see it on other cars

Cheers everyone, I've stuck to my original decision and kept the standard LED headlights. Seen a few in Alpine White with them and they still look pretty cool!

Not long to wait now and it should be here! Currently 9630 at Port of Entry!

Sounds good mate post some pictures of it if you can once you have it. Havent seen many UK cars on the forum

I have basic LED with High Beam assist... the brightness is awesome, absolutely more than fine....

I must say I have seen one or two cars with ICON lights in real life and I personally think they look unfinished...not as nice as the pictures. I prefer the standard ones... but that's just me

Once the vehicle is in "Production" status, nothing can be changed or added except accessory (e.g., VIA port-installed) options.

(Note: perhaps there are isolated cases of someone successfully getting a change, but generally speaking, the above is correct.)

Are you in US or Canada? Only reason I ask is US does not have 664 in black as an orderable option on the vehicle.

Will definitely post pics up when I finally get it. Went in the other day and signed all the agreement paperwork. Status is now at 9650 - awaiting despatch to dealership. Dealers reckon that I can pick up on Friday 12th, so fingers crossed I can get away from work early enough!!!
