I think the new Autoblog review helps to make my point; the M550ix is NOT an M5 - nor is supposed to be. If you wanted an M5 - you should have bought one. This car is luxury first - super smooth power delivery - and excellent handling. But luxury first. I know for some - they want this car to be everything - but it isn't nor will the M5 - it is power and handling first - luxury second.
That said - I believe this car will run mid 12's at 112-115 MPH - that is quicker and faster than a 5L Mustang - a much more dedicated sports car - so you need to put that into perspective - the M550ix isn't a sports car.

For what I wanted; it was exactly what I wanted; ENOUGH power and handling to go with a truly luxurious car. You have to know what your criteria is and then you will be able to choose the car.

Technically,...Yes,...and Technically,...No! ...it has remote start for "auto parking"! Since the engine is running,...things may as well heat up and or cool down,...a bit!

This gets to exactly what I was looking for with this car. For others the M5 will be right but this fit for me. Glad that this is working out for you VTknight

You complete missed my point. I'm not bashing on 550 or Bmw I had both 550 and m5. All I'm saying is Bmw now has manual mode in 550 where every time you're reminded of their current line up of m cars.

I'm not saying you are bashing - but it was fairly easy to miss your point as you specifically said when you use manual mode you are reminded how you should have gotten an M car. I'm not emotional about the discussion, I simply thought you were comparing the two cars - which I disagreed with.

Thanks DBB - it really is...knowing what you want is key - and it sounds like you do.
