replace engine air filter g30 m550ix

Howdy all. Ordered new engine air filters and when I got started to try and remove the current, I couldn't get the air box off. Looks like a brace is right at the attachment for the air box and hose assembly. Do I need to remove the brace to get the filter out? Thanks in advance

You don’t have to, you can loosen it and cover will lift enough to slide new filters in. You can remove it to make it easier I suppose. Just a standard hose clamp.

Assuming here we're talking about a 2020+ engine. You can change the filter without removing the air box, but if you don't remove it you won't be able to vacuum out any debris trapped in the box.

So on the 2020 M550 you will need to remove the brace if you want to remove the air box for vacuumed cleaning? Can you re-use the plastic trim buttons or should I get some new ones or can I get that bolt out on the front of the brace by just lifting the trim cover slightly?

Yeah, I found out that you have to remove the braces and then it is free to replace. I didn't have to replace any clips or anything

So it is necessary to remove the brace over the top of the air box if you want to vacuum out any debris? Can I just lift the trim flap that covers the bolt on the front of the braces or will I need to remove and replace the trim buttons that holds it down? Looks like I am going to have to get a Torx socket for the back bolt on the brace?
Thanx!!
