Screen Mirroring from Android on G30
I have seen youtube videos saying this is a thing.
I dont have a "screen mirroring" source in my media source list, does that mean i cant do it? I have paired the samsung s8+ for telephony and multimedia (its connected to car over bluetooth) The car has carplay and is broadcasting an SSID if that makes any difference. If the android tries to connect to the SSID... i dont know what the password is. The MAPs page says i am running NBTEVO_SXXXXX thank you |

On car menu -- select Communication - Manage mobile devices - Connect new Device - Screen Mirroring --- it will then show you the WiFi ID you need to connect your phone to
Now on your Android phone - select Smart View and connect to WiFi ID listed in step above - should take less than a minute to establish connection I've tested it on my car and works well with Samsung Android phone - I coded my car for Video in motion and Video via USB just to enjoy the screen mirroring feature. Now I can play youtube videos, movies while driving or even have Waze map app displayed on screen Last edited by jcnyct; 03-03-2020 at 01:23 PM.. |

had a fraught call with BMW.
first they said that i needed a software update they gave me a uk link for software downloads which served up one file, the car errored when i tried to use and car suggested i download software from .com which served up a different file for the same vin < what a load of tosh. so when software update didnt work (for either) i would have to pay to have the software update "because BMW warrant the mechanics not the software" <- what a load of tosh. then they said that i already had the latest software , who only knows why didnt BMW check this first? then when i asked what are the prerequisites for screen mirroring. bmw said oh, you dont have enhanced bluetooth preparation. fair enough, although i would have thought if the car has car play it presumably has a wifi service, so the necessary hardware might well be present? i have been reading about bimmercode being able to "code enhanced bluetooth" is this a sensible/possible/necessary route to get screen mirroring? |

sounds like you may already have "enhanced bluetooth"
if you already tried the steps I mentioned above.. try this on your main menu.. select Communication - Manage mobile devices -- settings or select option on your scroll wheel... make sure vehicle WiFi and Internet hotspot are checked Last edited by jcnyct; 03-04-2020 at 02:45 PM.. |

Do you have a screen mirroring item in your media list and in your mobile devices settings? Check that first.
There are 2 WiFi options in G30: 1 is Miracast service for ScreenMirror and 1 is a Hotspot feature that shares internet connection to mobile devices in the car (supplied by esim installed). Later one asks for pass to connect. Screenmirroring doesn't. Both of them can be available independent of CarPlay. First one can be coded if it doesn't exist, but a formal subscription to BMW is mandatory for the second.
