Is this 540i a good spec or basic?

Hi all. Looking at purchasing this car but wondered how good it's spec is? Has 1 owner but mileage is above average, so any concerns there?
Thanks

It's fairly basic... The 20 inch wheels and HK stereo about the only add ons.

I'd suggest finding one with the multi-contour seats. And unless your roads are really good you might not enjoy those 20 inch wheels so much.

Yeh basic and fairly high mileage, you can get better

Agree as regards the comfort seats , well worth having

HUD is nice if you can find one with one ( note once you have a car with this , you will want it for any subsequent car!)

The semiautonomous driving stuff is ok , not perfect but useable
If it’s a 540 septic ally you are after , I would generally expect those to be better specced up than say a 520d for example

Mid-level. Looks like it was optioned up by someone who prioritized the drive over faff.

My kind of car.

Depends upon what options you want .

Good car though , moved out of a 540 early last year and was very pleased with it
Cracking engine , very smooth, powerful or economical depending your mood

High quality interior and classic styling , arguably BMw at its best

Lower than 70k miles is hard to find for my budget. Why are there so little 540i's for sale?

What would you likely offer on this if you were to buy it?

That looks like a nice car, very similar to what I had

I’d suggest a test drive to enable you to have a good look at it

If the features are what you want then go for it

I’m terms of price seems fair to me but that without comparing to others out there but feels about right

I would never pay the asking price so perhaps ask for £1000 off?
If you test drive it and subsequently find an issue, that’s more bargains ammo

Mechanically it should be fine, but with that mileage check for wear and tear and that there is no wear you’d not like
Norte the piano black trim is known to be a magnet for scratches

Price as-is seems fair.

I paid around 50k for a 2019 G31 with the equiv. of 23k miles over here in Germany.

The B58 should last a long time with proper maintenance (even Toyota uses it in the Supra), and the 5er is pretty solid in terms of repairs.

That car is totally defective! The steering wheel is on the wrong side! I'd totally pass!

Pretty close to base (few to no options). Leather looks like base dakota.

There are slightly high miles and there is this off the charts for it's age.

Hard pass.

Could you give an example with the seats?

67 plate with 60k
69 plate with 81k

Roughly the same?

With a budget of £21k what mileage should I be looking at as I haven't found one with under 60k

Multi-contours are good for long trips, but are too wide and flat for my taste. I would take the sport seats over them, as bolstering is significantly improved.

The best option, ofc, is to get the M sport seats that were available in the facelift (same as the M5 seats, sans branding). I may retrofit them into my car.

A quick search on the Bmw used site shows 2, one which I think you highlighted previously and there is a SE model with next to no extras on it , mileage 47k

Really depends what you want. Be patient and hold out for what you want

Mileage wise I guess then realistically you will problem be looking 50k pkus
