Thank you for your explanation.

Must i remove the dash trim first 100% ?
So can i just force hard to bottom of climate panel only while skip the 1st and 2nd steps in here ?
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...sor/1VnZ2xwAM2
No need to skip anything just trust the process, just undo the one screw and pull from that side and thats it... i dont even disconnect anything (use some tape and glue that trim piece to the main screen), once you do it you'll have that lightbulb moment and its so easy to do after that.

So first and second step is mandatory, i m asking that because someone skipped them, direct take out the climate panel.

However, i force bottom of the climate panel with plastic trim remover but i worry about something may broken inside so i understand that, need force stronger than usual for free the dots on climate panel.

And, how can i remove that button. Do you know? I'm trying to move that part to my panel.

I'm trying to move all elements to g30 from g11 touch ceramic climate unit actually. So i need to move that knob to my original case.

There are four prongs pointing straight back from the panel and couple of "hooks/hinges" at the top of it so pry from the bottom and pull towards yourself/up the prongs have grooves on them so once you pop them out its easy.

Maybe I'm mistaken about the steps but I don't see how you can skip the first and second step but this is what i do (and i cant emphasize this enough its super easy once the fear is gone if i can do it anyone can)

1 remove side panel cover (to get to the screw) and remove screw

2 pull the "wood/whatever your car has" trim
(pull towards yourself the middle vents are kinda rubber sealed so thats the only thing holding it in)

3 disconnect the connectors on the back of the trim and take it out (optional since i just pull it out and tape it to the screen using painters tape and microfiber on the screen)

4 pull the ac part out

So the TIS site is now offline and no longer able to get instructions.

Can someone please post some instructions so I can install my touchscreen climate control?

Thanks!

Hi, I replaced my controller myself. It is actually very simple to replace, but if it is the first time then you are a little afraid breaking something while you are removing the panel.
You don't need to take off the panel near door and the upper trim, just take off the climate panel. It's a single unit with the cd/radio/fav buttons panel.
To take off the panel you just insert trim tool bottom of the panel an give a little bit force from down to up. It is the tricky and scaring part

I attached the photos, may be it helps.

For others looking for this panel...another data point is that every single G30 in Canada has the 4-zone climate control as standard since 2017. So sourcing these parts from Canada should be relatively straightforward.

Aren't these HVAC touch panels prone to develop horizontal lines in the display?

Wonder if that issue persists or has been addressed by BMW?

Digging this thread up. Does anyone know if the knobs can be pulled and are transferable? I'm looking around, I have ceramic control, but if I can find one without and swap, that would open up some opportunities.

Thanks!

Joe, I don't think the knobs are easily removable, although I'd have to say I haven't tried. No procedures in BMW tech manuals about the knobs or buttons. I'd be worried about damaging something.

I'd sit tight waiting for a unit with ceramic controls, I got mine from Russia of all places, they are out there!

Thanks Chris. I found one with ceramic controls the same day I posted this. It actually arrived today from Poland in 5 days. Crazy I can get a package from Poland faster than from the west coast to the east coast.

Yes they are and it's only noticeable at night, with the day colour you can't see it at all.

My own has a single line at night but its almost not noticeable.

I can easily do this for my Kombi but does anyone know what code is needed to change on the IHKA (climate controls) to shut off the day/night color display change and keep it in day mode? I prefer to keep it white (as it is in the day) at all times. In the day it is white and at night it changes to BMW orange. Just checking if anyone might know? Been searching the code but haven't found it yet.

This is on a G30
IHKA CAFD:00002203_011_007_008

Thanks for the help!

I have seen you warn us a few times, but have not seen this common prevalent issue posted anywhere else. Not saying it is not a sure thing as you say, but just curious where you have seen this? Is this something that happened to your touch screen?

Regardless, it is a pretty cool upgrade that requires nothing but a few bucks and a vinyl tool. But yeah, I am not getting rid of my old one, frankly, there is zero market for it anyway.

Happened to mine and loads of other posts online, here, Reddit and many other sources about the same search for "dead pixels".

It's only really noticeable in night mode.

Thanks, found a few threads here as well from early models. Hopefully just a bad batch, but good to see these lines to keep a look out for:
