OBD tool
I just bought a 2017 530i and I’m looking to purchase an OBD tool so I can read the check engine codes for the BMW and my other cars (Honda sand Nissan). I’m looking for one without a monthly fee. What do you recommend?

Here's an interesting review and comparison of BimmerCode/BimmerLink and iCarly.
https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/c...owdown.973239/ I haven't got into the diagnostics piece yet but I do like the interface of BimmerCode for basic coding. |

Autel MD802
Scans and erases codes for engine/transmission/ABS/SRS/EPB/Oil Reset And the price is right. I bought mine 2 years ago and used it on my old MB and 228i with no software charges for additional vehicles. That may have changed to first vehicle free and $10 for each additional make so read the product descriptions carefully. Last edited by PHEVer; 01-19-2021 at 06:44 AM.. |

Thanks, rtraveler. $500 is quite an investment for a DIYer, no?
Here's hoping they'll update their BMW software pack soon.
