Heads-Up Display
Because of my height, I have to adjust the HUD to be lower on the windshield, but it never retains that position the next time I get in the car - I wind up re-adjusting it every time I get in the car - what step am I missing to get the adjusted HUD position to stay saved?

Do you have a driver profile setup and aligned with your key? Your settings will be saved to your profile which should ensure it is saved properly. You don't need to align it with your key, but that's a nice touch if you're sharing the car with a spouse at any point.

This might be the step I am missing - I have a Driver Profile, but I have not saved my seat position after adjusting the HUD height - will try that out later!

During the day the max brightness is fine, during the night I find it too bright and it annoys me, I sometimes switch it off altogether.

Don't recall trying myself but I think you can adjust the brightness with the dashboard display brightness dial ( saves having to delve into idrive whilst you are driving)

Thanks tried it today. Mine just dims the display brightness and light controls but not the hud. Mines a 68 plate 530i. Thanks for the suggestion though

I have not been troubled by the brightness so I have not tried this but have you tried using one of the memory buttons to reduce the brightness?

On mine, the dial on the light switch panel will adjust the HUD brightness, but only at night. |

The HUD brightness can be adjusted in the display options menu. It´s connected to a light sensor as well, as it´s adjustning the brightness of the HUD depending on the amount of light outside the car. Works flawless in my car at least.

Same for mine as well. If the brightness setting in iDrive is set to a comfortable level and it is still not working well I'd have the dealer check and replace the light sensor. I believe (could be wrong) that it uses the sensor on the back of the rearview mirror to accommodate it so covering that sensor should allow you to test it out as well.

For some reason, in night driving I can see the rectangle light around the HUD details I could never see it on my last 5 Series nor on my wife’s X5. Tried turning it down, but can still see it.
Anyone else get this? |

Sometimes. But that is only related to the HUD in that if one doesn't order the HUD, one doesn't get the rectangle in the dash top. The reflection is of the opening, not of the HUD image.

yes - I get it too. If you turn the night brightness down (through the idrive) of the HUD I find it helps
