Mirror cap removal on a 2020

I am unable to remove my mirror caps. I popped the glass off-easy. Released the two catches behind the glass and pulled the cap back far enough that they stay released. Found 2 teeth on the inboard side of the cap and slipped it past them. After that, it will not budge. It seems there is a catch or catches on the bottom section below the blinker as that would not budge and there is not even enough room to get a trim tool in the crack. There are no current videos online that address this. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hey bud, when I removed mine - I remember there were 2 screw holding the blinker/indicator bit inplace. These had to be removed before the cap comes loose.

Found this video too which might help you-

No, I've seen that video and it is not helpful. There is something else holding the cap on besides those 2 main fasteners. As mentioned, I even removed the glass to have complete access. I had those fasteners completely released and the cap pulled back beyond them. I applied significant force and it would move no further. The bottom of the cap would not separate at all, that's why I suspect there is something else holding it.

I can go get the caps I removed from the garage and show you some pics. Hopefully it might help work out what's holding onto it. I think some brute force was required when I did it to remove them but there is that risk or breaking a clip or something

Thanks for the pics. Didn't your blinker remain in the cap when you removed it then you removed those 2 screws? I did not expect the screws went through the frame then into the cap. Did the fastener at the arrow need to be released?

Thinking about it, the blinker was released/removed after the mirror cap was taken off.

That arrowed fastener needs to be prised with the trim tool. On the first one I just used force and pulled it off but was lucky the clips all remained intact. On the second one, I knew where the clips were and worked the trim tool in that area.

It seems like that fastener might be an issue then. I am unable to get a trim tool even close to it nor can I get the inboard side of the mirror at the bottom to give any. Seems like the whole bottom won't release.

You need to brute force prying it off with a trim removal tool. Once you release the two tabs from the inside, use a trim removal tool to work on the outside, left to right or right to left. Just slide the tool into the crack and pry towards the outside as you go from one side to the other, and the cap should come off easily.

This one addresses the other clips. Will see if I can make it work.

The outboard bottom clip as shown in the above video is the key. Problem solved. Thanks all.
