M550i lease up soon.....not sure what to switch to at this point?
My lease is up in March.......there just isn't much out that compares right now.
The M550i is so much faster than any of the cars I have been looking at. The new A7 is slow. The 2020 S7 is only going to be 0-60 in like 4.4.....that just isn't fast. The E43 AMG's are slow.....the CLS53's are slow.....and both lease for more than the M550. The new M5 just isn't worth the extra $30k over the M550. It just isn't....especially with the new engine going in the M550 this year. Jag sucks. Maserati has tech that I had in my Benz SL's from 2003...... What are people looking at? I get sick of cars so I'm not sure I want to get into another M550.....I guess I'd have to see the LCI design to decide for sure but I don't see myself doing it. This just goes to show what a great bargain the M550I is....I'm just surprised the other car makers have ceded this segment to BMW. I still have that speed bug otherwise I'd probably just get a LCI 750i.....

The 550 is a beast of a sports sedan with the most usable advanced tech in its segment. Anything other than getting the same vehicle
In its new version is a step down in performance and tech. The benzes are no slouch but I far prefer the BMW formula. That’s a personal choice. I drive a 540ix m sport. I passed on the 550 because it’s my DD and I wanted the extra fuel efficiently and lower lease payment. I can easily drive 20k per year. However After going to the m track day I’m longing for an M5 or comp version. If you can swing the $. And you have the speed bug you won’t be unhappy. I was amazed at how well a 4500 lb car could get up and go as well as handle the twists and turns. Right now I’d say those are the Alfa BMW’s. Since you mention the 750 I am assuming you want a 4 door and the 850 is out ? Last edited by jsf721; 08-25-2019 at 06:54 AM.. |

No offense, but anything in the low 4's I wouldn't call "slow." Let's be honest, in our everyday lives we rarely are going to be doing sprints from 0-60 at stop light to stop light, and even still I consider anything under 5 seconds to be fast. If you care about 0-60 you might as well try out a tesla

Tesla's interior are plasticy and just not good. Get the new 530hp 550, or use swapalease to toy around with short term leases. I've been missing the sporty ness of the M5's and may grab a lease from swapalease on the f90 M5

Take a look at the Porsche Macan Turbo performance package. It handles like a vintage German car and it’s fast. I have the same dilemma and I rented one on Turo last week. I was very impressed with it but there’s nothing like the power delivery of the M550 v8.

The thing is, these cars are more money......like the S7 and E43/CLS53....which is fine.....but not when they are giving you a fraction of the power the M550 is. There is absolutely nothing about those cars that warrants a higher price versus the 550-especially when they fail miserably in the segment they are aimed at (performance). I just don't get an AMG model going 0-60 in 4.4 or something. My 2014 CLS550 4Matic was faster. If you are going to charge a higher price for the name (AMG), then put some power into it.

The new S6 should be faster yet, though I've not seen info on how much. You mean the new S6 interior? You've seen one? I thought they were not 'out' yet? It's not the same interior as the A6, right? I think Audi upgrades the interiors when you step up to the S series. Now, if you mean, ergonomically, that I assume would be the same.

I really feel like my M550i ticks every box for me so it will be very difficult to move on from it. I financed though due to how many miles I drive each year so I think I'll be in it for quite a while.

I am with the OP in that I too tire of cars rather quickly and like to change it up.
If not the Macan (I'm not an SUV guy) how about the Panamara? The S is no slouch, and the turbo is just nuts. Looks are polarizing, but I had one once and it is a fantastic driving car.

Looking at your sig, the next natural step for you in the F90 M5. If I'm in your shoes, I'd just get the 2020 M550 with a tune. I know tunes aren't for everyone but it certainly will fill that need for (more) speed.

Two Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadraoglias. Two because you need one for the shop and one to drive.
