E60 still doesn't look like a "proper" 5. The F10 judging by the majority in here, and by the sales figuers, all shows how much of a sucsess it's been, and still is. It's the E39 all over again, conservative, but at the same time, it doesn't age or look boring at all. The Audi is the opposite imo.

I'm not seeing how someone could like the looks of the E39 but not the F10 though. To my eyes the F10 is very much a design descendant of the E39 and both are beautiful in similar ways. Unfortunately the F10, unlike the E39 or the E60, entirely lacks personality in the driving.

Hey Jason
Will the 5 series get an M performance variant to compete more directly with Audi's S6?

The F10 is nice looking but lost that dynamic/athletic look of the E60. A proper E60 has a look of class and athleticism to it whereas the F10 is just class. Don't get me wrong, love it--but when looking at the F10 visually, it just has a sense of weight and luxury bias to it that's far too close to Lexus than to what BMW is known for. I sure hope the pendulum swings back the other way when BMW debuts the next 5-Series.
I think the sides of the E60 and F10 are a bit bland and need some added richness. They look too plain and slab-sided. The next E-Class is guaranteed to be an absolute stunner visually so BMW should take that into consideration. Don't know how to explain it. Give it some flow? Put some design into the side. |

When I see a pristine E60 on the road today, I think it looks sharper than the average F10 (and drives better). Personally, I think the only absolutely good looking F10 is an M5. All of the other models are a bit on the boring side for looks.

The E60 didn't look like any other vehicle on the road. A blind man without a cane knew it was a 5 Series, and not a 3 series. The F10 has a bit of plumpness to the rear body that does not help with its looks. The C pillar flow into the trunk is too full. It needs a more aggressive and thinner transition. Harkening back to the previous generations.
