Less than 500 miles on my new tires and I already found a screw! (Michelin Primacy 3 Run Flats)

So far no lost pressure notifications. I sprayed with soapy water and no air loss there either.

You guys think this is repairable, or is it too close to the sidewall?? ? I've found mixed info about run flats being repairable…

Thankfully, I got them at Discount Tire and bought the certificates, so I guess it's their choice/problem… I'm just curious as to y'all's experiences with similar incidents.

Still bummed though…

I had a similar problem couple of years ago and the tire shop told me that run flats are non repairable and should be replaced. So I replaced the tire (only one as the tires were almost new, otherwise they would have instructed to replace the pair in the same axle). One rear tire cost me circa $400.

Later I talked to my BMW dealer about what happened and they told me that they always have the run flats repaired (same way as regular tires) and had zero issues. They would have helped.

Note that run flat tires have a reinforced sidewall, but the cross-section is similar to a regular tire's. Here is a short summary:
https://www.bridgestonetire.com/lear...n-flat-tires/#

Conclusion: run flats are repairable

Thanks for the info Trimark! Yeah run flats aren't cheap, my two rears cost me about 900 bucks.

I ended up stopping by a local mom and pop shop and they pulled out the screw and inspected the tire. Surprisingly it didn't puncture! I was at my in-laws so I had to drive it home today, about 500 miles and had zero issues.

I also called Discount Tire and they said that if its not punctured then they wouldn't replace it. He did say that if it starts losing air or if I have any issues down the road they'd first attempt to repair it and if they couldn't, then they'd replace the tire. He also said that I'm more than welcome to bring it in and they'd inspect it, and we could go from there. I'll probably end up doing that just to be safe.

half inch screw, doubt it went all the way through since you hit the blocky tread part. i wasn't so lucky on my brand new ONE week old 20" tires that hit the screw 10 second away from my driveway on the way home. hit the screw right in the groove.

Technically, that is too close to the edge to support a repair, especially on a run flat. That said, if I didn't have a warranty facility (W&T, Road Hazzard etc.) to put a claim in, I would plug it, or rather, have a mom and pop corner gas station guys do it. The chains won't touch that. Glad it didn't go through though.
