2019 530i Steering Wheel Material Stiffened?

Hi guys,

This might sound crazy but when I first got my 2019 530i sportline, I noticed how soft, cushy, and almost spongy the steering wheel felt. It's been less than a week and now the steering wheel feels harder to the touch as if the material has "stiffened" a bit. It doesn't feel spongy and cushy anymore. Is this all in my head? Did I just get used to the feel of it?

I am coming from a 2016 328i sportline and the steering wheel on that was thinner and harder and I noticed an immediate difference upon feeling the 530i steering wheel. Any thoughts?

I think you got used to it.
I can't see how the material can change in a weeks time.
If you want to keep the wheel with a Matt feel going forward, ensure you regularly clean it which will avoid it getting shiny.

Lol thanks for the reply. What do you use to clean it? I have this leather honey from amazon, you think that would be safe to use?

No. I use the BMW interior leather cream cleaner. Available at your dealer parts counter.

I think it's from zymol . Use a toothbrush to brush the wheel and wipe off with a tissue. 10000 miles on the car now and it looks and feels brand new still with that Matt look.
Also helps to have clean hands as well in the car.

Zaino is the best. I have their shampoo and conditioner which i've used on 3 of our cars over the past year, works great and I like the smell. For the seats, you need to get a small brush, almost like a mini version of what you use to shine your shoes - and work the shampoo/cleaner in and wipe it off - you'll see how nasty your seats are if you use a white microfiber cloth to wipe it off

+1 the smell
Ok got the bottle out to confirm , this is what' on the side of it

Zaino 9
Leather soft spray cleaner

Think I got it from Detailedclean.co.uk or possibly amazon.

Very good as I say my steering wheel still has that new matt look after 10000 miles.

Also believe keeping your hands clean as well is of great benefit to avoid getting anything horrible in there.

I used a toothbrush to clean the wheel and wipe off with a tissue.
