Audio upgrade

Morning Guys. I have a 2018 530i with the factory system. I've been thinking about upgrading my sound system. I looked at the plug and paly from Bimmertech and the price of a full system with speakers and amp. Is is worth the $3000? I like the whole plug and play. That way yo don't have to splice any wires.

I am happy with the speakers from bimmertech haven't done the amp yet. To me it was worth it and at the time the amp was not available. New amp is but its 1800 so I'm waiting a little bit to get it.

hi,
firstly - what is your starting point?

Base Audio
676 hifi
HK
B&W

:-) - depending of this, I would recommend to start with front speakers + underseat woofers + a PnP amplifier solution (Audiotec Fischer Match amp with DSP)

The Bimmertech amp IS a Match amp.

Have read my post a few times now, did I mention Bimmertech?
I'm very well aware of where they buy it from.

My recommendation does not stop by the Bimmertech, as I think it is worth to expand above and beyond that..

You're absolutely correct- you did not mention Bimmertech. The OP asked about Bimmertech and your recommendation was for a Match amp. They are one in the same. Your post (I only needed to read it once) appears to imply that your recommendation is a better option. I'm sure it wasn't your intent but this is the interwebz and it's how it would appear.

Sry - Bimmertech do get a modified version. Also they add a DSP profile that they call optimal.
They also charge a higher price - that I personally would never pay for thair product, nor would I accept a generic DSP profile.

I have recently upgraded sound in my G31 which also came with only the base stereo (no amp, no tweeters). The options I consider include Bimmertech, Focal Inside plug-n-play set + Focal amp and Focal + Match UP8DSP amp. O opted fot the latter (only subs and rears are Steg) and it was well worth the money spent. I was surprised how nicely the stock HU plays my flac files.

I would grab a TechnicPnP add-an-amp harness, which allows you to add an aftermarket 6ch amplifier to your car without splicing any wires. You can select from a wide variety of amplifiers and speakers if you go this route.

3k is better spent this way rather than on bimmertech or bavsound products, tbh. I've added an aftermarket subwoofer to my m550i so far and hope to upgrade the speakers/amp soon.

Does anybody know if the Bimmertech/Match amp directly accepts the optical (MOST) input from the HK head unit? Related to that, if it fully replaces the factory RAM, does it automatically disable ASD?

It does neither. Mobridge DA is needed for pre-RAM/MCU cars then toslink into the amp. RAM/MCU is all done post amplifier and ASD needs to be coded out.
