Is my tinting strategy sound?

I mainly tint for the UV protection and for a bit of opaqueness, but I don't like tint that's particularly dark.

Up till now, I've always tinted my cars 35% VLT in the rear, 50% on the driver's sides, and 70% on the windshield (Which admittedly is still a hair darker than California's 70% sides and 0 tint on the windshield)

My G30 is the first car I've had that has 70 marked on the glass. I've read that it doesn't necessarily mean 70% VLT, but rather up to 70%.

To get the equivalent of what I normally prefer, should I do 50% on the rear, 70% on the driver's sides, and find a clear UV film for the windshield? That would calculate to a max 50%*70%= 35% on the rear, 70%*70% = 49% on the sides and 100% * 70% = 70% on the front, although it might be a lot lighter depending on what the real VLT of the glass is.

It sounds a little silly to tint with such a light tint, and I'm not even sure if there is a clear UV only film except Llumar Air 85, which is still 87% VLT, and thus 87%*70%= 60% Equivalent VLT.

I just tinted mine today...I think you are overthinking it lol...go with what feels good to you...lol. not what percentage it is...I think different companies also test differently so unless you are using all the same brands, those numbers are not exact. I just did mine in 35% ceramic on all but the windshield including the sunroof. It's lighter than my last car, which was pretty dark, but still keeps temps inside the car down. thinking of a clear ceramic for the windshield because the difference between heat transmission into the car between the windshield and sunroof now is HUGE.

Your car looks great, thanks for the post. I know people say I overthink it but I also hate that the sample is never representative of what the final outcome will be, since you don't really know how it will look until after the whole car is done.
