Remus Midpipe has finally arrived for my 540ix!

This was the last piece of the puzzle I've been waiting on - I can now get on and have the F90 ARBs, Braces and other suspension bits fitted - feel like I've talked about it long enough It's taken around 3 months for this midpipe to be delivered. It was from POTN who I previously got the Remus Axelback from.

I was tempted to get a catback system in the first instance but wanted to see how the oem midpipe and Remus Axelback would perform... I think theres more sound to be had hence this purchase.

My current midpipe is an oem one with the Resonator modified by PCW Exhausts. Looking forward to seeing what this new one does in terms of noise level and tone. The Remus pipe is 2 x 60mm pipes into 1 x 84mm pipe before it goes into the backbox.

Went through what I've got/bought over the last few months - when layed out it's quite a lot! 🫣🙂 Excited and looking forward to these changes to see what they all do in terms of improvements... well I hope there's improvements! 😄

When you install your x brace, would you mind taking some pics? My local guy wasn't sure how it goes when he attempted to do it yesterday.

I'll ask the specialist to take some pictures if he can. Just seen you post on the other thread... my understanding is that this is how the brace fits/sits - end to end...
(not exact as it's just a quick mock up, but around that area at the back where the 2 longer bits go)

Maybe I missed this in the first post but is this replacing the static 704 sport suspension, with the exception of the MSS springs already replaced? I have 704 suspension on mine and really like it except for maybe too much body roll. Have had the car 5 years and may trade in another year so can’t decide if I should upgrade ARB or wait it out. Very interested to see how OP upgrades go.

I'm not replacing the sport suspension, I've just swapped out the G30 ARBs for the F90 ones which are thicker. Also I've added some reinforcements and braces that come on the F90 in the hope to improve the handling and drivability on the G30. Had all the parts fitted today. Will do a post shortly.

Suspension Parts Now Fitted...

I had the suspension "upgrades" fitted today by a BMW Specialist. The aim was to improve the handling and drivability more - that has definitely been achieved. From the drive home, it's very noticeable that the steering is more direct with a feeling of it being sharper and tight. Turn in has also improved (stiffer and sharper) and driving round bends - the increased rigidity is definitely felt.

Parts List:
F90 Comp Front ARB/Sway Bar
F90 Comp Rear ARB/Sway Bar
F90 Front End Links
G30 Rear End Links
F90 Cross Member
F90 Cross Strut/X Brace
F90 Strut Brace Front (already fitted)
F90 Underbody Panels
Rear Flex Disc
Rear Camber Control Link
Remus Midpipe

The biggest changes come from the F90 ARBs (Front has gone from 24mm to 30mm, the Rear has gone from 18mm to 32mm) the weight in themselves is a clear indication of this too.

With the bracing and reinforcements, there is more emphasis on the rear as on the G30 - the sub frame is on bushings, where as the front sub frame is not.

To further add to this, the next steps would be to look at the F90 front tension struts and the rear toe arms.

Replacing the cracked and damaged Rear Flex Disc has also contributed to a positive effect (from what I can tell and feel), the little vibration that was felt while driving has now gone.

I think the Remus Mid Pipe will take some time to settle in, I know the Remus Axelback I have sounded better as time went on and the more I drove it (intially). I'll get some sound clips soon.

Very pleased how this has turned out. I look forward to pushing the car more to see where the limits are. It's more of a pleasure to drive now, especially on a fresh set of 19" Sport Contact 7 tyres.

On a side note, removing the 2 vibration dampeners and rear ARB brackets, it's saved 6.1kg in weight 😆

Great work - did some similar oem upgrades on my BMW's (previous e91, F20 and current F87).

If you got yr car aligned, please share your alignment spec's for fast road setup.

M5/M8 front arms should add some probably much needed negative camber upfront.

Had the geo and fast road setup dialled in today.

After a conversation about my driving style, what I wanted and what they could do, my requirements were setup on the car.

Settings now:
Front Camber -1.20°
Front Toe 0.04°
Rear Camber -1.80°
Rear Toe 0.17°

My knowledge on suspension setup is some what limited but I could definitely feels the difference/changes. The drive home was more enjoyable and engaging than it was on the way to the shop. The car feels more alive and gives you the confidence to push on more.

Have you installed F90 m5 comp front suspension hardware to dial in more negative camber ?

Not yet, I was looking at the F90 front tension struts (probably should of got it done before the alignment) but haven't looked into further.

I was also looking at the rear tow arms. For the F90 OEM ones you need to swap out the rear hub assembly but Hardrace have an option too which is tempting as it doesn't need too much work.
