Dinan High Flow Middle Exhaust for the G30 M550i

Part Number: D660-0080
Applications: 2018-2020 BMW G30 M550i xDrive
Product Page(s) / Pricing: bit.ly/M550i-ME
Recommended Install Time: 2.7 Hours
Release Date: Available Now!

Description: The Dinan Middle Exhaust for the G30 M550i introduces a more aggressive tone and an increase in volume over the stock system. Coupled with the associated Dinan exhaust the sound is further enhanced into a smoother, fuller and more aggressive growl that is becoming of the V8 powered sedan.

This full mid-section kit removes the hydro-formed factory center section, including the resonator, and replaces it with larger 3" T304 stainless steel tubing for freer flowing capabilities. In place of the factory resonator Dinan incorporates a beautifully crafted X-pipe made from mandrel bent tubing for minimum restriction unlike stamped X-pipes which are commonplace in the market. This sophisticated 'X' is not only the focal point of the system in terms of aesthetics, but also the star when it comes to the affects on the sound. Promoting even flow to both banks of tips, the 'X' removes unwanted nuances in sound caused by uneven exhaust flow that is found in stock systems. Along with the inherent benefit of increased volume by removal of the resonator, the Dinan Middle Exhaust for the G30 M550i produces a louder, smoother and fuller exhaust note.

*The Dinan Middle Exhaust for the G30 M550i is only confirmed to fit with the Dinan Free Flow Axle Back and stock exhaust systems. Fitment with other axle back units is not guaranteed.

Features/Benefits:
  • Smoother, sportier sound
  • 3" (76mm) tubing replaces stock 70mm tubing for free flow
  • Deletes resonator between catalyst and rear muffler for increased volume
  • Includes X-pipe crossover made from mandrel bent tubing for minimum restriction
  • 100% 304 stainless steel construction
  • Bolt-on installation
  • Mounting hardware included

this is awesome. As I have already removed my resonators, don't think I will go with this, butt, definitely recommend this. It really makes it a night/day difference in sound.

I also did a resonator delete. I went with 3 inch piping. Cost me $250 to have the work done, this looks to do basically the same thing paired with an axle back.

Anyone install the new mid pipe that already has the Dinan exhaust? While I don’t care how loud it is in sport mode, concerned how loud it is in comfort mode in the cabin around town and the highway.

The 5 series has a ridiculous amount of insulation and next to no sound transfers into the cabin even with the mid-pipe added regardless of mode.

Given the limited audience for some of the quality after market products companies like Dinan offer, you have to expect such premium. Although I have to admit was a little miffed when I contacted my local Dinan dealer last month and he told me he couldn't place orders due to shipping issues with them so I missed the 10% discount.

Same! Just got it in and haven’t attempted it yet. I’m typically fine and have installed exhaust before on cars with two ramps and a jack, but this for some reason I may wait to use a lift. I see the 4 side jack poiny in front of the tires. Does anyone know if there are center front or center rear jack points? Was thinking of Putting the rear on the two ramps then jacking the front from the center, if there was one. Can’t wait to hear it!!

Assume the axle back exhaust when added to this makes it louder? Don't need super loud or droning - wonder of this is enough? Anyone install the exhaust valve flap remote option to a 2018?

Here is a video with the dinan x pipe, it was a pretty simple job and took 1,5 hours total.

Are you running the stock exhaust or another axle-back system? I'm interested in the Dinan X pipe with the stock muffler system.

I paid my local exhaust guy to do the same setup - love the sound. I'm thinking of muffler delete, but still hesitate to commit to that

Does a Dinan cross pipe or just doing a resonator delete create more of the pops and burbles?

My car is still 100% stock but sometimes when I'm on the throttle real hard and then light off I get a slight pop or burble but it's usually just one but I love it if I had a couple more it would be nice but I don't want it to be overkill. That video clip of the X pipe sounded nice just enough to where you hear them but not so much that it would be annoying I'm curious if the resonator delete with accomplish the same thing and be relatively cheap

i got only the x pipe installed and it doesn't pop or burble in comfort mode. but in sport PLUS mode. its a little too much especially driving in residentials. its fairly quiet in comfort mode and regular sport mode.

Cutting stock exhaust for this?

Do you still need to cut the stock exhaust to install dinan x pipe?

If you are just doing the middle exhaust and no axle back at the same time (keeping stock back box), then yes. There would be cutting. The factory system from front to rear is one long piece. To see exactly what it would entail the installation instructions are on the product page or linked directly HERE.
