Aston Martin's newest DBS GT Zagato

Aston Martin's newest DBS GT Zagato lets you complete the set
Aston Martin and Zagato are together again at the inaugural Audrain's Newport Concours in Rhode Island

by DAVID BOOTH | 17 HOURS AGO

https://driving.ca/aston-martin/dbs/...plete-the-set/

Aston Martin says this is the ďmodern twinĒ of the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation. I say itís got 760 freaking horsepower. Iíll leave it up to you to determine which of those statements is the more important descriptor of the new DBS GT Zagato.

Said monstrous power comes from twice-turbocharging Astonís 5.2-litre V12. Bespoke pieces ó like the machined ď3DĒ wheels ó and carbon fibre litter this latest DBS. Inside, thereís Caithness Spicy Red leather ó donít ask me what Caithness is; I donít know ó plus Zagato seat quilting in the shape of a Z, and satin twill exposed carbon fibre.

But the most interesting thing about this announcement is that both the DBS GT Zagato and the DB4 GT continuation be built alongside one another, despite the obvious difference in years. Both are part of Astonís DBZ Centenary Collection and the Continuation is part of that run of 19 original DB4s being recreated ó that should be read handbuilt ó at Aston Martin Works. Itís worth noting that modernity has intruded ever so slightly into the Continuation models; all the original 60-year-old patterns have been digitized, and thanks to modern metallurgy, the original inline-six has been punched out to 4.7 litres and a very modern 390 horsepower.

All of the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation cars will be delivered by the end of 2019.

I read the posted article above, and some of the material on AM's site. What are they representing this vehicle to be, in terms of present-day safety and emissions regulations? The question comes out of curiosity only from being in a vehicle-related manufacturing industry. I think it's great that AM is doing this.

There are a bunch of articles out there, the vehicle is built to original spec so but titled as a new build so they don't meet current safety and emission regs so not road legal. A very expensive track toy......but you get a brand new Zagota with every purchase. not kidding.

Will it be considered "exotic"? Why would I get this over the C8?

Let's say it's not "road legal". How many bobby's would actually pull over a DB4?

Well, because if you can afford to own one of 19 that makes it unique, as opposed to owning one of 150,000 C8's.

It isn't always about getting the most bang for your buck.

If Aston has sold the entire run, economics suggests the price wasn't high enough. $7 million might be a bargain never to be seen again.
