Yeah, that's what I was thinking based on forum posts, but It's not as easy as expected.

I have been trying and trying and I canít remove the cerium pieces from the front bumper. Are there any updates here? I feel like I need to bring it to a shop for them to do it. This is nuts!

Cerium is a bit harder. You'll have some broken clips unless you take apart the bumper.

UPDATE: after continuing to fail to remove the bumper trim, I brought the car to a well-known euro/exotic shop. 30 minutes and $53.00 later, the trim is now black! Saved myself the headache and a bunch of broken pieces.

i would have done the exact same thing had i not had help from a buddy of mines, took us a few hours and many many unsuccessful attempts. like r33_RGSport stated, the cerium trim is very stiff so it takes a bit more elbow strength then normal. I also broke a clip off the cerium trim while removing.

They broke a clip too, but I don't care. Saved me a bunch more aggravation and was done super quick.

I did find it extremely difficult to remove the clips from the back of the bumper as shown on first photo. What worked for me is the following.

Push-in the clips as shown on the Photos #2 FIRST (not easy I agree), Once the top part is relatively loose, then you can simply wiggle back and forth and with gentle force trim comes off.

Was trying to do the same for the luxury version but it's impossible to access the pins without removing the wheel well covers. And even when doing so, only two can be seen directly.

Hi, the cerium grey trim is a bit different not only color wise.

Does anyone in this thread have any instructions on the standard fog surround / trim replacement? The luxury line models without M sport package.

I am about to do a fog light delete on mine, as I like the cleaner look that the M550i has. Is the bigger grill without the foglight support a direct replacement?

Ended up going the cheaper alternative, and smoked out the fog lights with Stek Dyno Smoke instead. Cost me about 1/10 or even less of what a real fog light delete would cost.

Straight to the point. Added the M Performance OEM's. I really don't get it since you get the Shadow Line pack, why you don't get these already piano black as well by default.

Codes:

Carbon fiber installation

Hey all, I just received a set of carbon fiber front bumper trim pieces from Autotecknic. Has anyone else experienced fitment issues where the pieces line up but won't slide in far enough for the clips to engage?

I have reached out to Autotecknic but haven't gotten any info from them that helps one way or the other.

Thanks in advance for any info.
