G30 Rear Fog Light Install

I finally tracked down the rear fog light switch for my G30. I still need to code it to work but it's going in for software updates and its first service soon and I didn't want to change coding until they've done that.

There are several versions of the light switch:

61319493733 - Rear Fogs Only
61319493736 - Rear Fogs Only + Night Vision
61319493734 - Front Fogs + Rear Fogs
61319493738 - Front Fogs + Rear Fogs + Night Vision

I couldn't find a guide to swapping out this part so here's how you do it:

Remove the plastic cover on the side of the dashboard. It's held in with 4 clips and does take some effort to remove. I used a plastic pry tool and started with the front edge below the trim/vent area.

There's a single torx screw which needs to be removed to release the trim/vent. You can then pop out the trim/vent with your fingers. It does not need to be removed, just popped out because the top edge of the light switch is tucked in behind it.

The light switch can be pushed out by reaching behind and pushing on it. I would suggest NOT using a pry tool as the gloss plastic surround is fairly fragile and the metal tabs holding the switch in place are part of the switch body.

Pop in the new switch and check that everything works as before. (Rear fogs will need coding so that button will do nothing, but everything else should work.)

Push the trim/vent back into place and reinstall the torx screw. When replacing the plastic cover make sure to tuck the rear edge in back under the weather stripping. There's also a small alignment tab that needs to be tucked in behind the trim/vent before fully pressing in the clips holding plastic cover in.

Once I get my car back from service and figure out what coding needs to be done I'll post it up here.

Did you have to make any additional electrical connections or is it all in the same snap in plug?
Did you get the switch from a US online retailer? I can't find those numbers.

It looks like the new assembly is bigger. Is that just camera angles or is it truly bigger?

Same physical plug. So far no additional wiring, and presumably it’ll work after coding like on other Fxx cars. I found mine on eBay from a non-US seller. I haven’t found a source for these in the US and BMW definitely blocks ordering the part.

Same size, just the camera angle playing tricks.

You still need the front fog lights don't you? They're a separate light in the lower front bumper.

I guess you would need a new "grill" piece too with the cutout and mounting bracket for the fog light too.

I found it on eBay from a parts puller that shipped to the US. Took a few months for one to show up.

I already have front fogs on my 540d. The new switch (and some coding) is just enable the rear fogs which are pre-installed.

Ah, I was thinking of the M550i that doesn't have front fog lights.

Did you ever get this installed, coded and working? Any issues?

Not yet. I'm waiting for my first service appointment on the 22nd before doing any coding since they will be updating software on the car. Also still trying to get the pay-for version of E-Sys since apparently that's better to use for G-platform cars.

I'm still waiting to hear back from TokenMaster. I'll give it a few more weeks and then try some other unlocker to do the coding. I'll post up what I code and if it worked or not once I have a working setup again.

Have you coded before using E-Sys & TM's cheat codes? I've done it with just E-sys a few years back, but it's been a few years and I'm looking forward to learning using TMs new cheat codes.

I've never used the cheat codes. I'm not actually sure what that does. Still no word from TM.

There are not any cheat codes for Front/Rear Fogs on G30.

No luck so far. I've done the following, which clears an error about the incorrect light switch and causes the icon on the instrument cluster to work.

BDC_BODY2 (Mine had 4 CAFD entries, the sections below were in the last one for me.)

3070 LceConfiguration > Funktionen > LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR
Changed from 39_BEL_PL_FLC_NSW_NIVI to 40_BEL_PL_FLC_NSW_NSL_NIVI
(You'll basically want to change the default value to the same thing but with NSL added.)

3075 LceMaster > Funktionen > NSL_Verbaut
Changed from nicht_verbaut to verbaut

It seems like the other settings for this should also be in BDC_BODY2 as the taillights connect directly to that module if I understand BMWTIS correctly. (Diagram here for my 540d) I did verify that I have the rear fog wire running into my taillights and I see LED diodes in what I think are the rear fogs so presumably it really is just some extra coding. I tried changing a few NSL-related things but no luck.

So... half way there?

No, unfortunately this is still not working. I’ve been checking the various coding forums every so often to see if someone with experience in this area can figure it out.
