Why? BMW rarely, if ever, makes any significant changes to the interior during a LCI.

The article makes the point it is only an LCI update (as opposed to a whole new model), so I'm not surprised about any major interior changes or updates.

Besides, as we say over here - "if it isn't broke, don't fix it"

I for one do not like the new "gauges" - drove an X5 loaner a few weeks back and it's pretty annoying for me.

Ditto. One of the primary reasons I bought a 2019 instead of waiting.

Ditto...perhaps the new digital instrument cluster layout appeals to younger buyers...but I prefer the classic round gauges for fuel/speed/tach/coolant or oil temp. Even if the cluster has no analog needles or gauges at all and the whole thing is digital...give me "fake" circular gauges.

I only hope (since the instrument cluster is going all digital) that round "traditional" gauges can be a selectable option in iDrive...or a codeable hack using BimmerCode or some other aftermarket coding app/software.

This new instrument cluster design is a big turn off and makes me not desire any BMW that has it:

I am also not a fan of the new cluster and a digital display SHOULD allow BMW to give us alternate displays. I have a 2018 530e and had it coded to the Alpina display. Can the new ones also be coded to the Alpina display?

Having the new dashboard style in LCI would have been great...

Gotta wait for the next generation. Interiors are rarely completely changed in terms of design for LCI's

so i mean the only difference will be the camera for the driving assistance package, so the 5-series will now have the driving assistance pro package similar to the LCI 7 series, 8 series, x5, etc.

You guys realize this is a leak of the 2020 model, currently on dealership lots? This isn't the LCI. Definitely news from about six months ago...

I expect them to move the ignition button to the center console and give it a glass gear shifter as an option in the LCI.

nope., not going to happen. only difference will be the camera in front of the gauges for the driving assistance pro. interiors don't change in an LCI.

isn't ceramic control already an option (glass gear shifter) for 2020?

Actually that big grill on 7 series is attractive. It makes the car more imposing with more presence and a bit meaner. I saw one in flesh today at a dealer
