The engine in the S2000 is, quite literally, leagues better than whatever subaru PoS they've been using. Unfair comparison to the S2K imo.

Of course, but it seems a bit short sighted to base your entire argument on the one time you rode in your friend's STi that had a failed engine. Anyhow...

I had a FRS for about 2 years. It was great car but yes the one major gripe I had about the car was that it felt a bit anemic - the motor just needed more pizzazz. I dislike Subaru motors in general so that didn't help my case either. Sometimes I would actually have trouble overtaking cars on two-way roads. Other times I would have trouble keeping up with V6 Camry's. The 6 speed manual wasn't my favorite. It felt a bit vague going into gears. Otherwise the car was fantastic. Super fun but super slow.
Looks like they address some of the power concerns with this new generation. Looks much better too. Good on Toyota to offer an affordable sports car with a manual. |

At least I've owned one so I can actually speak from experience. I digress though, it's a turd of an engine and not for you.

You have posted numerous times you don't like the car or the engine, so, don't buy one. The only problem with the first-gen was needing to keep the engine on boil to move briskly. They dramatically improved that with the new one based on specs/dyno/reviews. |

there are two camps of car people sometimes. especially when it comes to high rpm engines... you have the folks that are like "this sucks, i have to rev it out to get anywhere" and then you have the folks that say "awesome! i get to rev this thing out wherever i go".
i really liked my first gen FRS because i could beat the snot out of it wherever i went. My problem was that the build quality was abysmal. things rattled. stereo sucked. gearing was too tight for a highway cruising which is what my work route is. i'd at least want the quality of a civic inside and i dont think thats asking much for a 30k car. it sounds like they've fixed these issues for the most part with the new one. i'm looking forward to a test drive.
