Which fuse to tap for mono block

Can someone please help me?

I am looking for a fuse that that turns off shortly after locking car.

I currently have it tapped into below. Is there a better option?

Is this the main power line for the amp? If so, you should go directly into the battery and use the amp's turn-on terminal to power it on and off. If this is for some other powered accessory like a DSP, crossover, amp turn-on, etc. you should be fine with a switched circuit like the one you've shown. The folded card that's sandwiched between the rows of fuses near the fuse puller explains what each circuit is used for but unfortunately doesn't explain when each circuit is hot. I used a voltmeter to find a suitable circuit; you can save lots of time by using the tiny testing pins on the top of each fuse to determine which are active.

Remember that most if not all of the switched circuits are "on" for about 20 minutes after the car is turned off so don't mistake those for always-on circuits.

Finally, make sure that your add-a-fuse isn't installed backwards. If it is, the current for your new circuit will flow through both the factory fuse and the fuse you just added. Or worse, your new circuit could be completely unfused. It depends on how your add-a-fuse pigtail is made.

thanks, yes this is for remote turn on signal. The installer did use voltmeter to check and settled on this one but i was just sense checking here.

when i checked the schematics, the fuse i plugged into was 262 (which is listed as media)

what i will do is lock the car with boot open, to see if the amp turns off after 20 mins. what i do know that its not tapped into the cigarette light 12 v charger, as when i had to unplug a different fuse for that.

i assuming its fine beause i have left the car overnight now and it still works in morning

ok just checked, and the amp turned off after 20 mins. so it seems to be working.

does anyone know if there is a fuse that would switch off once door is locked immediately rather than 20 mins?

I'm glad to hear it's working for you. If you have a voltmeter or test light, I'd still recommend pulling the fuse and checking that the installer didn't install the add-a-fuse backwards.

I've never found a circuit that turns off as soon as the door is locked. If anybody else knows of one, I'd love to know about it. I did find one that turns on and off with the engine; I believe it was F221 for me but it is likely different in other cars. Look at your fuse card for fuses with a picture of an engine and test each of those to see if any are switched with the engine.

Here is a video that explains it starting at around 3:00. In short, the wire coming off the add-a-fuse needs to be opposite the side of the fuse receiving +12v. You need to pull the fuse and test both sides to see which side receives +12v.

I mention this because there is nothing preventing the installer from inserting the add-a-fuse backwards and I don't have confidence that many shops or DIY'ers even bother to check for this since it appears to work fine either way.

Try fuse F62 in the glove box fuse block. I used that fuse with an add-a-fuse for my Valentine V1. The detector powers down after about 3 seconds.

F206 in the rear fuse box is switched to terminal 15, which turns on and off with ignition. When turning ignition OFF there is a 5 second delay. Tested.

Whatever fuse you use, be sure to test it before connecting to it. These fuses seem to vary by model and model year.

Yup, saw your posts and used a multimeter to check before tapping. OP has same year/make/model as I do.
