Hi all,
I have a 530d x-drive on order since September 2020. Still the status is on 1200. Delivery is supposed to be in February.
I am now wondering if BMW will absorb the 10% import duty in case of a no deal Brexit.
Any thoughts?

I ordered through BMW UK forces sales. They could not confirm either way at the time of ordering. Lets see how it pans out.

Probably depends on how these taxes are passed on. In the US we don’t get a line item for the import taxes so BMW would absorb it in that case.

Today, I was informed the car is in the paintshop (status 152). Delivery would be 1st week of January. Does this mean the car might land in the UK before the year end? Thanks.

I was in a very similar position to you and was concerned about additional charges, but I managed to beat any 'No Deal Deadline'.
If it helps, and you might just be in with a chance, below is what happened with my car :

30/11/20 Paintshop start
03/12/20 Released to carrier
08/12/20 At sea
09/12/20 At port of entry (UK)
14/12/20 Arrived at dealer, (north of Scotland).

Hopefully, if yours is as quick, you'll be OK anyway.
But, even if there is no deal, I suspect the car would only have to have left Germany before 31/12/20 for no additional taxes to apply.

Thanks Alan. Congratulations on your early X-mas present. Reassuring to know. How could you manage to find the timeline in detail? I am struggling to get any update without calling BMW customer service.

I've used the same dealer for quite a few cars now and the sales assistants are so good at sending me screenshots progressing the order. I actually got more updates than I posted previously but just wanted to give you an overall flavour of how quickly the process happened after entering the paintshop. Ring your dealership and ask them to keep emailing you the screenshots.

I did not go through a dealer but had a great discount from BMW UK military sales. Hence the problem with getting info.

Unless things have changed, if you have the order number (should be on those screen shots you had) you chat to a bmw "genius" online to get the status
