P.S - It's always nice to see a B58 oil filter come out in 1 piece!
Such a relief isn't it when the filter comes out nice and easy on one piece!

I've an oil change due in 4000km I debating main stealer to keep the FBMWSH or just find an Indy that can properly update the Idrive (sync with BMW servers)

Stage 2+ and new brakes!

The car was in with my local BMW specialist this weekend for some performance and maintenance work -

B58 TU Fuel Pump
B58 TU Spark Plugs
BootMod3 Stage2+ tune
Genuine BMW Brake Discs
EBC Red Stuff Brake Pads

I had to get my stage 2 tune removed first by my previous tuner. This then allowed me to enter the BM3 world. I had no issues with my stage 2 tune, just wanted to change to BM3 as this platform gives you control over the tuning but also there is alot of support out there as it is widely used. I was considering MHD or MG F, but many recommendations came in for BM3.

The work was done by RS Automotive Ltd. Can't recommend them enough - they have a very good reputation and looking at some of the cars they work on (Mainly M cars) it gives you confidence that your car is in safe hands. Idrive service history was also updated along with an overview of BM3. I left the garage a very happy person

I'm still in the phase of bedding in the new brakes so haven't been able to 'test' out the new tune on the car. A week or so and I should be there. I already have XHP and set it to stage 3. Looking forward to seeing what this all does to the car and how the car performs.

It shows Service and then the first 7 characters of the garage name, instead of 00000.

I know that 00000 identifies as a specialist/independent garage.

The numbers can be changed to text via cable and software from what I've seen and read.

Remus Exhaust - Axel Back

Finally had my new exhaust delivered! The wait from order to delivery wasn't too long - I know a few have had to wait months.

Order Placed - 17th May
Exhaust Made - 3rd June
Delivery - 17th June

I went for the axel back as I already have my resonator on the mid pipe modified by PCW Exhaust. I will see how it sounds but after speaking to buddyboy (thanks for all your help/advice) it made sense to go for the Axel back first and then get the Mid Pipe from Remus if required. I opted for the 102mm angled tips - I think they look the most aggressive. Looking forward to having the exhaust fitted some time in July.

Nice progress! Did you raise up your suspension? the pic of of the rear looks higher than it does in other previous pictures?

For your TU pump did you get the electrical connector rotated to suit the factory plug or did you extended the loom to match the new pump?

Im guessing you will be running the bmw stage 2+ 98 ron map? From the research ive done, there isnt much noticeable different over the stage 2 map with the TU pump, get yourself onto the e30 map. #gamechanger

Thanks mate

It's still at the same, 25mm lower. The car did just come off the jack and I took the picture straight after.

They rotated the connector on the pump. Yes - it's the 93 oct Stage2+ tune, which is 98 RON. Ideally I would of liked to go BM3 Stage 2 to compare it to the previous Evolve tune. You get one free map with BM3 so it made sense to just get the Stage2+ one and do the pump at the same time. I think the full OTS map pack is around Ł50 though.

Yes! That's something I want to look into and see what that's like

550i Diffuser

For the Remus exhaust to fit 'properly', they recommend the 550i diffuser (BMW part no. 51128067763) to be used. I currently have the M5 style one but another forum member has tried it with the Remus and the fitment wasn't that great.

I took delivery of the diffuser a few weeks ago. To have it match the rest of the bodykit, I had it wrapped in Gloss Black (inc the reflectors).

Compared to the one I have now - it does look less aggressive but as it is 100% OEM fitment, I don't mind. I think it looks quite good in Gloss Black too

All being well, I will hopefully have exhaust fitted this month!

Good thinking getting it wrapped, it looks a lot nicer in gloss black alright, the oem colour looks a bit lost against the bluestone colour. When is the Remus getting fitted?

Thanks mate, I did think afterwards that maybe I should of got it sprayed... just incase the wrap starts to lift from the exhaust tip heat. I'll see how it goes.
All being well, I should be getting it fitted end of this month. It's been sat on the kitchen floor all this time and the other half isn't best pleased

Wheel Stud Conversion

Finally got round to installing the wheel stud conversion on the car today. I bought these a while ago but I wanted to have the new discs and pads fitted before I installed these.

The main reason for this is to make life easier when removing and refitting the wheels, with the added effect of looking good too! Trying to line up the wheel hole, with the spacer hole and then the hub hole - it was really starting to bug me everytime I had to refit the wheels. I did buy an alignment pin that screws into the hub but you had to screw and unscrew this every time - but I wasn't a fan.

I went for 90mm studs which is plenty long enough and can take up to a 25mm spacer if needed. These were bought from PCD Parts in the UK. For the wheel nuts and locking nuts, I went for the Motorsport Hardware ones - Black Titan Race Nuts (Cold Forged).

The install was straight forward using a drop of medium strength thread locker on each stud. These were torqued to 25 ft/lbs (34NM). The nuts were torqued to the standard 140NM. The only thing I would say is the 5mm hex on the end of each stud looks like it can easily be stripped. Fortunately I was okay and didn't have any issues.

To remove the studs, it can be done by using the 2 nut method and some spanners.

First off, I love everything about your build!

I have the same 2019 540i w/the M package but without the X-Drive. I just purchased 10 mm spacers for the fronts and 12's for the back. Do I need the longer studs to accommodate or will the stock ones work on my car with those sizes.

Thank you - and I look forward to your continued pics of your build.

I've got some things coming next week that I'll share once complete.

Hey Ross, thank you for the kind words

For those sizes, you would need to get 40mm long wheel bolts as a minimum. Standard bolts are 27mm long. The thread size is M14 x 1.25

When I bought my spacers, I spoke to Eibach directly and they advised that 40mm bolts will be fine to use with 10mm, 12mm or 15mm spacers.

Looking forward to your pics and seeing how you progress your build

Thank you Junebug, ok I’m going to get the same studs different size. Are your the “race lugs”? Love that look but didn’t see the picture of those on their site.
