Remote Software Upgrade question

In the "MyBMW" app, on cars with the remote software upgrade, there are toggles to automatically download software, and "only download over wifi". I don't understand....my car doesn't get wifi, does it? I thought RSU came to the car independent of anything else?

Color me confused.

The item inyBmw App that asks if you want to download update only over WiFi is referring to your phone. One time, I download update to my phone & then next time I was in my car, it was "transferred" to my car

Nice feature, but I, like many others, have had problems getting Over The Air updates -- either way
