could this work

so my service warranty runs out at the end of january. my front brakes tell me i have 4800 miles left. i only drive ~600/ month. my advisor said they can be replaced under the service warranty but the key has to tell them to do it.

could i pull the pads and put them to a grinder and reinstall them? would this give the light a little encouragement?

brake pads are cheap lol, if your gunna take them out you might as well just replace them yourself, and on top of it oem brake pads suck!!! they leave brake dust everywhere

That would be a lot of trouble to go through for some free pads :/

And like the previous post said, pads are cheap anyway.

If you really want a free brake pad change before your warranty is up, I complained about brake noise during my last service before my warranty ran out, and they replaced front and back pads even though the service didn't show due for quite a while. YMMV

No, they will check rotor thickness and if they (even marginally) pass the spec, they will leave them on.

Btw, you can grind only the sensor, as it is what triggers the light.
