Ferrari F1:Oil in intercoolers.

After some teams were questioning Ferrari' s power advantage and one strongly in particular (probably Merc) it's been revealed that the reds are the only team having oil in their intercoolers and ''leaking'' oil into combustion chambers.FIA has cleared Ferrari completely as the leaking is sporadical rather than controlled which is allowed under the rules.
Nice try probably Merc

Interesting! Do you happen to have a link where I can read up on this development? I havent seen any information on this topic on the few F1 specific sites I frequent....

When I was playing with Jap turbo cars, oil in intercooler was common and not a good thing. Has something changed since then?

On road cars its still not a good thing. The system's they use on the F1 cars (like this) arent exactly directly transferable to road cars (i.e. this is a race car specific solution).

Oil is used to boost power in F1 cars. If Ferrari is allowing oil meant for one purpose to be combusted instead they may be in violation.

It's not controlled so it's not a violation.

More chemical BTUs into the engine (fuel + oil) = more mechanical power out.

Nobody protested or asked for clarification on their PU while Mercedes were killing everyone for the past 6 years. As soon as someone else innovates something they have to cry about it or make one of their customer team puppets "request clarification" from the FIA. You didn't see Ferrari do that when they were getting blown away for how many years. They put their head down and went to work.

They're getting there eventually, hopefully sooner than later and they'll do it without the Merc driver slave system i.e. Bottas does what he's told.

'May be' but isn't and thus Fia not giving out any details as you know F1,it's top secret.
That's why I came on here to dispel doubts before the silver arrow fans started screaming blue murder.

wondered about the rule if teams allowed to clean the engine between races as long as they re putting the same parts back in.. burning oil can be a good thing to cool the combustion chamber but it leaves carbon leftovers one way or another..

Winning at this game has always been about cheating and getting away with it. In fact, it's part and parcel to motorsport.

Most likely Horner and Red Bull/Honda, they were in a much tighter battle for second in constructors points with Ferrari at the break. When Ferrari started their new found pace.

FIA didn’t clear Ferrari, as there was never a formal complaint. Those are done on race weekends. A simple clarification of the rules was asked for by a group of teams, so they can pursue the same advantage.
