As an inexpensive alternative, may I suggest Pyrotect Pro Airflow ?
http://pyrotectstore.com/product/pro-airflow-full-face/ While it is not CF, being light and having a good ventilation for a warm day makes it a steal. |

And I believe Snell SA requires fire proof material and paint.

This is probably a silly question - but could a motorcycle helmet be used at a track day? New to tracking cars but have been road racing motorcycles for years and have some very expensive Shoei helmets.
Unsure if there is something specific for a track day other than just having a helmet. I get that for comp there are likely specific rules and certs needed. Thanks for the help. |

[QUOTE=Theruleslawyer;29951231]Most orgs don't allow M helmets, but if they do its probably fine for a bit. SA has fire resistance, multiple impact, and most have hans anchors. Maybe more I'm missing. Even if your org doesn't require a SA helmet you'll want one as pace picks up.
Thank you very much - I greatly appreciate it!!! I’ll grab an SA helmet now. We used to run the Simpson Desert Devil in our 1900 car - seems like there’s a lot of positive comments on the Simpson Devil Ray |

Waking up an old thread. I didn’t go with Simpsons, went with Bell M.8 and absolutely love it. It runs one size larger so if you wear Large Shoei, buy Medium Bell. However, helmets are one of those things that you need to try on before you buy. Everyone head shapes differently.
I don’t recommend a motorcycle helmet for cars. There’s usually a hump in the back of the motorcycle helmet for aerodynamic reason which will hit the seats headrest creating a safety concern. Second is you’ll want HANS harness eventually and most Motorsport helmets support HANS systems.

I know how that is. I love Shoei and wish they start making auto helmets. They’re so light and quiet. Fits perfectly
