Completely agree. Every time I see Angel Eyes from a distance you know it is a Bimmer. Still a great look.

People didn't catch the added 1.2 inches at the front to slant the center grill further and accommodate the new Volkswagen/Audi/Skoda/Seat headlights.

In photos it gives the car a strange look because the original G30 was designed to have a rather blocky/upright front end. I'll reserve judgement when I see it in person.

One thing that is a little concerning is that the with the pictures I've seen, they seem to have removed the auto start/stop disable button. Since these are pictures of the European model, it might just be like that for those markets.

From what I heard, there will in Europe be a 545e - maybe that model will have the six.

That is very concerning indeed. The other concern that is on its way soon is speed limiters in the EU . Believe it is in the next couple of years.

Re stop start that might mean having to put the car into sport or sport individual to defeat it.

had a closer look, yeh looks like they have changed the button itself so there is no LED, so its blanked out.
Probably cheaper to do than redesigning the facia panel .
more emissions rules no doubt....

sorry to sound negative again but why is it that every year there seems so to be something chipped away removing enjoyment from driving and making things slightly more annoying?

I keep thinking that only a few years back things were better, things you could do that you can't now.(thinking stop-start,lower speed limits everywhere it seems, average speed cameras, speed limiters on the horizon, hybrids, )

anyway, other than the instrument display, headlights, idrive screen enlargement, front bumper, I like the 5. oh hang on a minute those are all the LCI changes! give me a per lci 550 in the UK at a reasonable cost and I'd be there!

Definitely get the impression that LCI tails might be a direct fit on pre-LCI, but probably not the headlights. Which personally would be my preference anyhow.
What happened to the ACC display in the LCI?
Promo pictures show the same as pre-lci but this and configurator pcitures in europe shows a reduced one?

Only removed on M-sport variant. Still there on standard and luxury variants according to pictures...

I think it's because the 530e was used for the M-Sport photos. Other engines/body styles would have the button retained.

AFAIK, Mild-Hybrid BMWs don't have a Start/Stop button anymore either (cause improving the Start/Stop experience is a large part of why they do it anyway), so as most 5 series cars are now MHEVs, you won't see a lot of those buttons anymore (unless I'm mistaken).

What I meant was an Auto-Start/Stop On/Off button.

From what it sounds like the Start - Stop experience will work like it does on the 530e. It is very smooth and you don't hear of any 530e owners complaining about it even though we can't turn it off.

Basically, you get the engine shutting off as you slowdown and come to a stop. Starting again from a stop is powered by the electric motor and once you get above a certain speed it will swap over to ICE. That could be a few hundred feet from start or whatnot it depends.

Also, the car isn't guaranteed to turn off the ICE at every stop ether. So it may decide, based on a number of factors, to keep the ICE going at the stop.

It is a very smooth experience overall.

I can't stand the fact that there is no design standard being followed across models with regards to grille and headlights. Bmw was fairly consistent on this until now.

It's a mess! I see a vw

I find the design of the pre-LCI 5er G30 more consistent with BMWs design language but this one is not so terrible. Not sure why BMw felt that the squared off blocky look of the previous front end had to be tilted forward 1.2 inches and add VAG style headlamps.

Not a bad LCI considering that much of the car was left alone including the interior. The G30 is a fundamentally good car and was not messed with a bigger grille or some other more questionable styling element.

I absolutely agree, angel eyes are the iconic look of a BMW, and they look gorgeous on G30 pre LCI

Yeah - I just don’t get why you get rid of ionic look. I saw a newer Kia yesterday and it has very similar headlights to the new LCI. I thought maybe it was a BMW from a distance. Way to go BMW - go from the ionic look to looking like everything else.

I really like it. As a current E220d driver who isn't wild on the new E class design, I can see myself going back to BMW with this LCI. Love the Phytonic blue and the new headlights are very sharp looking. I bought an E220 a8 months ago, the first time in a non-BMW since 2000 and while the E class is a lovely car, great drive and equipment, this new LCI will give me a nice excuse to get back to BMW in a year or so!

We don't get the E220d in the US. The lowest trim level here is the E300 Gasoline.
