2017 530i. Floor mats both front and back were dry. Only front seats, middle console, and carpet in between middle console got wet. The cupholders didn’t have any water sitting in for reference as to how much water got in… Drove her around for 2 hrs with all windows open to dry out, also used a big blower to dry out. All is dry now. I’m just afraid something might happen, electrical problems of course, maybe seat may sensor, buttons, etc. I used seat warmers on full blast, changed seating positions to make sure they work, all that. All seems fine, should I be in the clear?

I would honestly open up the center console and inspect. It's not hard:

I was under the impression that if you leave your sunroof open and it starts raining, it is supposed to close itself.

Is this mentioned somewhere in your owners manual? It's usually something that has to be coded in most markets...but can be a default (standard feature) in other markets.

Check your owners manual (especially the one embedded in iDrive since it is VIN specific).

EDIT: here's a link to a thread in the G20 forums that discusses coding the sunroof to close when rain is detected. I can't guarantee that the coding parameters are exactly the same for the G30...so anyone attempting any coding will need to do their own homework for compatibility: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1779533

This is awesome and should be standard on a car of this value. My 2023 does not have this.

Mine is German edition so it is most probably some US safety regulation preventing it.

Me neither and my owner's manual makes no mention of this. --Bob

That is my understanding. US regulations prevent stuff that the car supports in other markets. Like being able to close the trunk from the fob. And the sunroof when rain is detected.

The US requires you to manually initiate a window close and stay within eyesight so some kid doesn’t get injured is my understanding.

A real drag as the windows and sunroof will auto reverse if they detect something in the path. Same for the trunk.

At least we can code the trunk. I did. I wish someone could confirm we can do this with the sunroof. Very innovative feature.

Don't see any info as to your model year...but there's a link in post #4 that gives the coding parameters for the sunroof to close when the rain sensor detects moisture.
