I am a service writer for VW, I deal with extended warranty all day long. The only ones that cover everything like the original warranty is certified pre owned . As far as Route 66 goes they are one of the better ones I deal with. However all of them have a lot of exclusions and fine print of what is and what is not covered . As with any of them read the fine print before signing and go the the best package they offer . The lower tier or powertrain only usually seem to be useless.

Good to know and hear. Although CPO covers a lot of which the factory does, for BMW it does not cover lighting or flex disk, to name a few.

The Route 66 we bought is exclusionary and really doesn't exclude much. I think the aftermarket part thing we may have underestimated.

Quite frankly, I am not too worried about this as it is not a big deal (most of the times) to pay the difference in parts pricing. The labor is the killer for most repairs and I am glad that that will be covered!

#3 seems like huge out for them. I could foresee a catastrophic coolant loss (e.g. blown radiator hose) and the engine overheating before it can be shut-down.

For sure. Although this contract seems so inclusive and short on language, they definitely have some creative outs if they want to go there. At first you read it as if you drive around super low on coolant and oil then it ain't their problem, which makes sense. But yeah, they all could turn the screws on the consumer if they want to. That is why I relied on word of mouth experiences and shop feedback. I got as comfortable as I could get and then you just have to roll the dice. We will see, looking forward to hearing more good stores and hopefully only a few bad.

Update: looks like dealer got their way and route66 going to pay for OEM BMW rack for the M550i. Not sure what happened but probably OEM only one available that fits? Regardless, job is $6200 and they paying roughly $5900. Difference is items like hardware that falls on me. I'm happy with this outcome.

I ran into a drivetrain malfunction which ended up being due to the electrical wastegate actuator failing. I just got off the phone with a Route 66 agent who approved the claim without any issues...however the caveat being that they only cover up to $200/hr in labor while the dealer I took it to is over $300- I'm on the hook for the difference, and for taxes, and for the diagnostic fee. That's incentive to use an indy in a HCOL area like CA though.

Overall not bad. This single repair isn't going to quite have it pay for itself (it's around $2400 per the SA) but already a good ways there. Will update here once it's actually done...

Well, I can't say I blame them. $300 an hour??? Is that the going rate there? Jesus, is that Gavin juice to buy the homeless new tents and needles?. Dealers in my area are under $200 per hour. My preferred dealer is $125. I am pleasantly surprised Route 66 goes to $200.

My younger brother is visiting our Aunt and Uncle in Florida right now.
They're paying roughly $6,000 per month for Home Insurance and Utilities right now.
They do not live in a mansion, just your average middle income home.
It's absolutely RIDICULOUS !

FL is a dumpster fire…

As a result, insurance companies are bailing off that ship. Capitalism is great for that. Good money isn’t thrown after bad for long. Pretty soon they’ll only have the state insuring their houses. Ironic since they claim to hate “socialism”.

Their governor is focused on fighting “woke” and not actually tackling real issues impacting the state.

But I’ll stop now as I’m

I forgot to mention that includes their mortgage included, but they pay now more for insurance than their mortgage. The home insurance they now have to pay is 3x what they paid 8 years ago.
I dont understand how those of us in the middle could live like this.

Update: got the car back and all is workimg great with the new steering rack. Route66 covered the repair with OEM BMW steering rack. Repair came out to roughly $6200 and route66 covered little over $5900. I'd call this claim a success without a doubt regardless of the hassle it caused. So far, route66 has paid out over $12k in repairs in the last 2 years which is amazing since I only paid $2700 for the warranty.
