I've bought a few single malts and bourbons, however I find that I have to dilute them with distilled water to cut down the alcohol burn at the finish.
My favorite affordable blend is Ballantines (and I think JW Double Black is much better than their regular Black). Monkey Shoulder and Teachers are also pretty good, but getting up towards the price of single malts. And adding some water is recommended for any single malt; it does something chemically to release more flavor, and your taste buds will shut down if it is too strong.

Liquor store was out of my Bumbu rum tonight, so I grabbed a bottle of Appleton Estates Rare Cask 12 yo. It's 86 proof as opposed to 70 proof for Bumbu and it's apparent in the drinkability. This stuff is strong with a major burn. Nowhere near as smooth as the Bumbu. I'll have to be careful to not ruin tomorrow.

I have been sipping Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky these days. Quite a good way to end my day after stressful work. I have been working od my car's window tint https://totalguide.org/best-window-tint/ for some time now.

I make 'Hemingway' daiquiris with that stuff. Two parts rum, one part fresh squeezed lime juice, 1/2 part simple syrup. Shaken with ice, served up.

I'll look for your Bumbu, wouldn't mind something a little smoother.

if you want a reasonably priced, smooth sipping rum then try the el dorado 15-yr.

I've been meaning to pick up some Appleton. Always had a bottle in the house growing up cause of family roots.

Maybe they'll finally get their first win of the 2020 season. It's mid-July, for Pete's sake. Red Sox haven't lost a game yet this year.

(Tonight's probably the last night I'll get to make that claim.)

I've finished a bottle of Double Black already and two bottles of Monkey Shoulder. I may have to add a little more distilled water to the single malts I have. Same goes for some of the bottles of Bourbon that I've recently bought. I I like Dewar's White a lot also.

I do have a bottle of Walker & Sons XR21 that I may open this weekend. I got a great deal on two bottles while on a cruise a few years ago.

Can't go wrong with Bell's. My son and I agreed that in the event of the zombie apocalypse we would meet at Bell's to wait out the end of civilization.

And "sipping" might be a bit of an understatement.
