Am I crazy? (Sport vs Sport Plus Throttle Response)

Has anyone else noticed that the throttle response seems quicker in sport rather than sport plus? Whenever I go into manual mode I always have it in sport plus but was messing around recently with individual settings and then accidentally popped it in to regular sport mode. When I did I noticed that the car picked up and I never moved my foot to change the throttle position. Played with it some more and every time I got into regular sport mode the car would pick up a bit and the pedal definitely felt more responsive.

Can't say I have but that is counterintuitive and not what I would expect.

related do you find response good, I've noticed on a few occasions in sport individual that when I quickly put my foot (to overtake) there is a delay before it wakes up. (sport individual set up with most settings at comfort except for steering which is set to sport)

Whilst having less travel in these sports mode make you think you are getting more for nothing, I do wonder if you lose some control as you have less play in the pedal , ie say 2 inches in sport mode between nothing and full power compared to say 4 inches in comfort mode between nothing and full power.

ie less "resolution"

That is counter intuitive. Maybe the transmission is programmed to give more instant speed at higher gears expecting that in sport plus it will be running on a track instead of on a road?

Agree with both of you, tried messing with it today during my commute and I found the same reaction.

Did you have the transmission in sport also, I.E. lever moved to the left? Can't imagine that sport would be better. Again, sounds counterintuitive, but I will try it tomorrow to see if mine does the same.

I got the same feeling ever since I got my 18 m550i. Also at the same throttle depth, sport mode gives higher rev and output than sport plus mode.

Yes, I find the throttle response better and with less effort in sport mode compared to normal comfort mode. I do like to get up to 8th gear on secondary roads at times so favor the comfort mode, but I had to make an emergency acceleration maneuver yesterday and had a disappointing response delay in comfort mode.

I just did a trip into the NC mountains with the M550i. I was able to play with the various sport modes and yes, going from Sport + to Sport, does seem to bump the throttle a bit. I'd expect that going from Comfort into Sport but not from Sport +. It's like the Sport + throttle curve isn't as aggressive as regular Sport mode.

I noticed the same thing, here's my take:

Sport Feels snappy at any speed, more power is allocated to the first 20% of throttle, most the power seems to be in first half of pedal travel, after which it trails off.

Sport+ Feels more granular and using the full pedal travel. this is for fine control in racing or drifting so you can really get the power exactly where you want it.
