Hey Ksoze, how do you like this controller? Forgive me if I already asked you these questions, I am getting old. I ordered this along with the full exhaust which is targeted for end of February delivery to my shop. Two questions:

1
Can this remote be programmed to Homelink and if so, would it be two individual buttons, one for open and one for close, or does one button open and close by a sequential push?

2
Does it remember the last setting on restart? For example, it you are in Comfort more where the flap is usually closed and you open it with the remote, when you restart, does it default back to closed or remember?

Thank you sir!

Hi Joe,
I've been doing some research on this product, and the couple reviews I read claim it reverts to whatever the default setting is upon shut down. So no memory. That puts me in a dilemma...get it with default in "open" or "automatic"? Hmmm Probably go with the more conservative approach and get "automatic" as default.

Hi Dave,

The remote keeps the valve in the position you have it in indefinitely, unless you change it with the remote. The functionality is completely independent from the car. Set it to open and it's open on every restart in any mode. After 5 months of ownership, I can honestly tell you it's never closed. The only time I close the valve is to make sure it's still open once a month and that's just a quick close and open. The Dinan exhaust sounds so smooth and tasteful that I have never felt the need to muzzle it. Hope this answers your question.

For the 540, it does get rid of the flaps. For the 550 I think it retains them.

On the M550, the OEM exhaust flap can be retained with the Dinan exhaust and will function as designed. i.e. closed for Comfort and opens with sport.

I opted for the remote which the wiring bypasses the cars instructions.

Right. That's what they told me when I inquired. For whatever reason, the 540 Dinan exhaust system loses that flap, making the Dinan remote N/A for the 540 with Dinan exhaust system.

In all honestly, having had the exhaust since April, I never close the flap, never use the remote. It is open all the time.

I remember you've said that. That's basically why I've dismissed that as a barrier. If I get ready to invest that much on a mod, and I think I'll have it for a couple more years at that time, I'm going to go for it.

It's got a really nice sound to it and it's nice to have it sound this way all the time. I prefer to drive around in Comfort mode. Before the Dinan exhaust, I found myself switching to sport more just to open up the flaps.

I am sure the 540 offering is similar, you won't mind having it wide open. Your neighbors won't either unless you hammer it.
