Floating Center Caps - Which bolt pattern - 668M's?

https://www.amazon.com/BMW-361224552...3955508&sr=8-3

112 or 120? Pretty sure 112. Also, can the stationary cap swap with these be performed without removing the wheel?

Thanks.

Hello! Bolt pattern is 5x112. The center bore(CB) is 66.6 which is the spec for 668m original rims. Also, the link is the correct spec for the floating caps.

They won't work with 668s..

Caps can be swapped with wheels mounted no problem.

Awe...bummer...my kids were looking for birthday present ideas for me. These are something I probably would not buy for myself but would be delighted to have them as a gift. Oh well, I'll keep the stationary ones.

Thank you for this.

That's crazy, I've seen 3 or 4 members post here confirming they don't spin, I know this is a long shot, but could it be possible that the matte cerium OEM wheels have a thicker coating of paint? Creating a smaller diameter over the hump inside the bore vs having wheel stripped and painted/powder coated. For those who want a visual, if you take off your cap, and run your finger along the circumference of the wheels bore you'll notice a hump located a bit in, that's what I'm thinking is creating the pressure on the counter weight. At this point I think I will give up and not have floating caps on this set lol

This is where I sourced the part and part number, the Amazon offering is the same part number, just over $40 less than the BMW Store with shipping .

No, everything you just said has no impact on these. I had these before I powdercoated them. Look at the pic below. You would need over 15mm of build-up to impact the "teeth" and the "float"

My 2020 M550 build sheet shows the car was ordered with 668M's and additionally the $155 Floating Center Caps. They dont spin anymore, or maybe were replaced ? I dont know. I'm the second owner. However my car is going in for its annual oil change this month and I will ask Service if this is something covered since it was on the build sheet.

If it is still under the new car warranty they are covered.

Any genuine BMW parts, accessories included, installed before the car was delivered are covered for the New Car Warranty. If a dealer installs it after the car has been delivered then they’ll have the remainder of the new car warranty or 2Y whichever is longer.

Mine still spin freely, but I don’t have 668M wheels.

Yea not sure man, mine work fine with 759s, and they don't with 668s. Not sure why this is happening to some and not others.

Pop one out and see if they are floating caps, if they are check to see if the counter weight will spin while holding it.

Just did this and found out they're just the standard cap. I also have an extra set of winter wheels/tires and they are standard caps also.

Maybe the previous owner swapped them over to another car, a tech stole them, i dont know...lol

What i do know is that my build sheet shows the 668M's were ordered and floating caps, so they "should" work! Waiting on Joe to report back

Coming tomorrow Mark! But I will be on the golf course all day. I'll either tackle it when I get home (depending on the number of beers I have in me) or first thing Saturday morning.

I'll either pop mine off with a nylon tool or use some double sided tape to pull them off, saw this on a YT video, less risk of scratching).
