540i exhaust sound compliment - filler post

So anyone who knows me even a little, they know Ive been obsessed over my 540i sound since the get go.
After doing MPPSK, I still wasn't satisfied and the shortages particularly kept me from being able to pull the plug on a catted DP and more tune.
Tonight after midnight, driving home from a party, pulled next to a dreamy looking tanzanite blue LCI M5 Comp. and we did a light to light.
Knowing full well I'm gonna come second, did it anyway.
After the fact though, I've got a big compliment on my MPE exhaust sound. Like a 5 years old, my smile got bigger and bigger over my grown up toy for the rest of the drive home.
I'm sure that M5C didn't have the MPE titanium; even with my windows down, I couldn't really hear it over mine. It seems like with M5C having less insulation for weight purposes, they could hear me inside better than myself.
This wasn't a new thing for me though. With this much insulation on my 540i, I knew it always sounds nicer from the outside but I wouldn't have thought over M5C.

Anyhow as much as the MPE sound can be better on my 540i, it made my night tonight.

I thought sharing it hear with you guys wouldn't hurt specially with lots people, in the same boat, not being able to do their upgrades on their own timeline due to shortage

Great story. I'm doing my first exhaust mod of my life if my parts ever get here. I'm not sure my motivation is the same as others as I wouldn't put much stock in a 540 sounding better than an M5 with double the HP, but after owning a Maserati for a brief stint before this M550, I get the feeling or rush of stepping on it and hearing it. I just would always want to make sure the engine was really there to back up the sound. One of the reasons I dumped the Maserati, they sound much faster than they are and I felt like a poser.

IMO the strait six will always sound better than a V8, V8s are available from literally everyone and they do sound pretty good but almost no one offers a strait six anymore and the sound is quite distinct. Even an old jag with a loud as hell 100 hp strait 6 engine puts a smile on my face.

Please let us know how it goes and which mod you went for. Something I would be interested in doing as well.

Good luck with the parts!

I ordered the full Dinan exhaust including the flap remote. ETA is February.

M5's don't sound great at all stock and actually get worse with modifications in my personal opinion. It's due to the weird exhaust manifold that pairs up the pulses from both banks.
