Hi

I had a 5 series from 2007 to 2013. I wanted to upgrade but didn't like the 5-series cars available in 2014. I switched to an Audi A6. Now I am back in the market, I test drove a 540i with the M package and loved it. I received an initial quote from the dealer at $1K over MSRP. I have not negotiated yet. (1st question - should I use a broker?).

here is what I was configured and was quoted- any suggestions ?
Phytonic Blue Metallic $550
19" M Y-spoke bi-color jet black wheels, style 845M with all-season run-flat tires
Interior - Mocha Nappa Leather with contrast stitching $2,500

I don't know for sure, but the option code is;

456 Comfort Seats, Electric. Adjustable

On my 2018 530e I have the luxury seating package with Nappa upholstery.

Back in 9/2021 (delivery was 1/10/2022) we ordered a loaded 540i and offered the standard 8.6% off the base price of the car and the options, offer was accepted w/o hesitation. No rebates were available to us.

There's a worksheet available on line here somewhere.

Times have changed and dealers are more reluctant to negotiate.

Good luck but personally, I wouldn't pay over MSRP. Especially if you can order and wait. Send emails to multiple dealers and some of the dealers here on the board.

Delivery times can be anywhere from 2.5 - 6 months. FWIW

A few weeks ago I priced out a loaded X5 and was quoted 3k under MSRP. I'm not sure if it's because BMW SUVs are shipping within 4 to 8 weeks but I was told by the dealers it has been difficult to get a 5 series right now. As stated above always shop around at multiple dealers and get price quotes in writing then go back and see who will beat or meet the best price. The luxury seating package has the multi-contour seating now which wasn't in the 540 I test drove but ended up being in the one I bought. I don't think I would ever buy a BMW without them now they are amazing!
