They even wont tell our dealers after they placed the orders for their Demo cars. They are just hoping the cars look good in the spec they chose.

Only picture they released is the same one from the USA order guide

I guess these are the standard 664M wheels?

Hopefully by the time I buy my next BMW. Or at least make it an option so I don't have to pay for something I never use. Not to mention the fact it is aesthetically out of place.

To me it is akin to the active sound in my car. List it as an option so I can opt out. Why would anyone want engine sound emanating from behind them? The engine is up front!

Too many buttons, too much distraction on that steering wheel.

Same as it's been for years, cruise control on the left, and mode/vol/phone/voice command on the right.
The only new button is the one for heating the steering wheel, and it's a good thing they moved it from hinding behind the wheel.

Hate the black wheels. I'm sure that's optional and chrome is standard, I hope!

I can name a few good reasons:

1- New engines are cutting on displacement as the emission regulations get tougher. So almost all of the new cars have turbo engines in order to make up for the lost displacement. And Turbo's don't generate great noise as their atmospheric counterparts.

2- New models have extremely good sound insulation, and that also prevents you from hearing the engine noise in the cabin.

They sticking to the hard core drivers choice, from many journalist the likes of Tiff Needell, flat steering are the worst for track days when you going sideways for example!
But with you on this the majority of us will never take a 5 series to a track, it should be an option, I am quite tall and with the seating going as low as they do in BM's which I like a lot, a flat bottom steering wheel will do nicely, plus looks nicer too.

I don't use my navigation system, so I am with you on making that optional. But the screen itself? Surely you use that unless you never use in-car audio/media, never change your car's settings (and for that matter, never have changed them from the factory defaults), and never check your diagnostics like tire pressure and service interval.

Does the screen placement present a bit of an awkward aesthetic? Yes, but it is for a good reason - to keep the driver's line of site more upright when glancing over at it. And it's better than the last generation "hobbit house" shaped dashboard. Other manufacturers put the screen lower in the center stack, but this is arguably less safe. Form follows function.

Sure it's a bad thing.. Or do you want all the BMW models to look the same as one model so you will have no clue which model it is when it passed by, because they all are similar to each other.
I don't want that and i think most of the customers don't want that either.
I want to see each model to be absolutely different from the other and for it to have it's own, individual character, but unfortunately the further we get the more similar models we see... (((

Maybe because a lot of what you hear from your engine is coming from the exhaust? Which unless you are in a first gen Viper is typically behind you.

The bottom silver part is plastic and it feels really cheap. Not to mention all the squeaky sounds it makes when you touch it. Do they have a service bulletin to fix something like that?

Will there be an optional extra to specify "in-focus-assist" whereby the car appears sharp?

I'll go and get my coat.....
