Comfort seats - uncomfortable.

Anyone else out there suffering from this: Drivers side seat, every time I sit down in the car, its like I'm sitting on a metal tube which goes all the way from the backrest to the front, on the base of the seat. Only started feeling this since yesterday. It seems to follow the 'middle' seam bit on the base of the seat.

Sounds very odd. Is the passenger side the same? I'd 'test-sit' another variant at your dealer and then sort out any issues if you find a difference.

Similar here, cannot get used to comfort seats and slowly losing hope i just played to much with setup and set them wrongly due to the fact i tried to "reset" it twice. As a matter of fact i would call them uncomfortable seats for my body and deeply regret i switched to them from usually used sport ones in previous cars. Sitting on metal pipe like feeling is from left to the right in the middle of the base of the driver seat in my case. Heating and cooling fitted.

Same problem in our G31 with individual comfort heated and ventilated seats. I keep changing the settings all the time because of this.

With I think 20 settings to adjust , it takes a while to get them to the ideal position. Took me a couple of weeks to get mine where I wanted them.
Just make sure you set a memory button when you have so you don't lose the settings

Someone in a thread here said that the non ventilated seats are more comfortable. Are the seats people are finding issues with the ventilated seats?

No issues here. The ventilated comfort seats in my car are excellent.

I'm glad its not just me. I've got massage comfort seats and still struggling to find my ideal position. Wife is the same, she is struggling too. The sports seats in the F10 were much better. The lumbar support is still pants(it was the same in my F10).

I tried ventilated seats and absolutely hated them...

so mine are comfort seats without ventilation... there's a comfortable position that you can find but it will take some playing around.

I have read the contour seats with the massaging and cooling are less comfy as they have mechanical vs gas/air bags in them like in regular contour.

To be honest, I have also seen some of your other posts. You do seem to be looking for things to find objection to, I mean I get it, these cars aren't cheap and I can have OCD too but no car is perfect. I don't mean to offend but you were looking for issues before you even got the car, then had issues with non issues. lol No wonder you need the relaxing seats... but yeah the massaging seats are ironically less comfortable. Dealers and others weren't going to tell you that, unfortunately with all these features you really have to do your own research and try everything and I mean everything.

All that aside, I ordered the normal contour seats after people complained about the regular sport.
The dealership I went to had one in stock and it was pretty nice to me without the massage and until the product specialist showed me, I didn't know you can bend the top part of the back too.

I dont know if theres anyway for you to solve the sitting on rods feel, but these are the same exact seats on the 7 series except with your unfortunate massaging feature (this has been noted by other reviews online). If you bought the car vs lease, I'd suggest getting those bottom parts repadded.

Good luck

I have the multi-contour without any ventilation or massage on order and I tried them at the dealer... any other insight? If the product person didn't show me how the top part bent too I would have never known.

I was so frustrated trying to get headrest to move that I called my wife for help... and she figured it out within 5 seconds

Comfort seats are perfect for me and anybody sit in my car. I got 2 positions - one for highway and exactly same one for town but a bit more narrow.

It took me weeks of settings, well I set it 1st day but for this time I made some tiny changes for these two options - especially with neck support, it was only part which “burned” after 2+ hours on highway, I had to move it(only upper part of seat) a slightly bit “back”

Ha glad to hear it. You almost made me second guess. When I was sitting in the standard seat I had no idea that the headrest was electronic at all n couldn’t get it down! It’s actualy slick how they combine buttons to do multiple things. As others mention adjusting seats constantly, I think I do that with every seat anyhow. I was most sold on the extra pivot point myself. In my f32 my neck and upper back went unsupported as I liked the back tilted back, so that alone should help. I’ll will miss my irresponsible night drives home though when I get the 530e... but then again that’s just my assumption for now as I’ve yet to drive it more than a mile.

My primary concern Now is just how to charge it without going too outta my way as I live in an Apartment but I guess that’s the trade off- at least it’s a nice place to be inside. My hope n prediction is that electric charger availability double this year around here

I have the comfort seats without ventilation and find them extremely comfortable and adjustable, although the "perfect" adjustment may still be in my future. I'm pretty close though. I do appreciate the multitude of adjustments!

I just leased a 540i with the luxury seating option, which I was not looking for but appreciate now. It took a few days find the right settings, specifically to feel like I am sitting in the seat and not perched atop it. With the massage active the bladders push me up and out a bit, so it is not a function I would use for canyon carving. Unfortunately we have no canyons to carve in Florida, just traffic to endure, and for that the massage is fantastic.

I've nearly found my ideal position, the massage bladders do add a slight camber to the base....or it could just be my skinny and boney butt!

Garage List
I have the comfort massaging and ventilated seats, fabulous comfort, just need some time to tinker and find the right position.
Obviously, everyone's behind is different...

I got mine with the multi contour seats without cooling in May, I set the seat position to where I thought was good but then in October after commuting every day figured it was not as comfortable as it should be and I messed with it some more and now its in a much diff position and i'm liking it so far, will probably adjust some in the future as there are just so many adjustments I can make it REALLY is tough to get set correctly. I think there is a way to tell the car your measurements and it will setup the seat to what it thinks you might like.
