Loving the interior, looks very smart, especially the coffee coloured combo although I think the wheel should remain black

Base version finally?

Looks like we finally have some pictures of what the base version is:

— Smaller multimedia screen, but still big enough (looks like 8,8")
— Silver idrive knob instead of black (wonder what the difference is)
— Less buttons on the steering wheel (looks like cruise is missing, replaced by LIM)
— Less buttons near the gearbox lever (surround view missing)
— Analog dash instead of LED. Hard to tell anything about it from this pics
— And finally seems like there is no speakers near the mirrors (Just like in base F30), sad to see that in 2017 5-series..

I've been following the progress of the new 5 series very closely as a replacement for my F31 335d. Given that my ultimate model (an AWD M5 Touring) will not exist and the M5 development cars show the option of a deployable towbar (I still want the ability to be able to tow my Caterham to trackdays), I had concluded the following in descending order of preference:

1: M5 - But only if an AWD option is available the UK.
..If not..
2: M550i xDrive Touring – Looks like this isn’t going to be available in the UK though.
..If not..
3:M550d xDrive Touring – I’m hoping this will make it to the UK (perhaps BMW should bring it to the UK in Touring only, especially if the M5 remains RWD & Saloon only as that should put enough distance between them).

Just my hopes and thoughts.

It's anybody's guess isn't it.

I expect only one will get the M performance prefix, but I reckon there's room for both and reckon the petrol will hands down spank the diesel for performance despite the triple turbo torque.

I'm interested to see what BMW do. Perhaps saloon M550i tourer M550d. Doubt it but why not ?

Hope the new one drives much better. last gen drove like a pig.
the overall design of the dash still needs esthetic refinement. of all 3 German manufacturers BMW in esthetics in my opinion is dead last. it is missing the flow that Audi and MB have.
If you look at the second photo it looks like a base model and the cluster is not digital, also the screen is smaller.

Here's the base cluster from a different perspective.

Where did you get this pic from? I am on the BMW.com website and can't seem to find to configure it with different colors to show me this side interior view option?

From the BMWUSA configurator. Pull up any car you like, get the perspective you want, then right click on the image and copy the URL. You can then change the vehicle code to the G30 (175A)

Which makes it awful same with their red interiors but recently they seem to offering red/black combos

As the ocean of blue or red is off putting to me.

I would say this is the base cluster. I took it from the BMW Escape film trailer.
I don't like it at all.

I think you are right, here's a slightly different view.

oooo I really hope this is the base cluster. Those full screens with digital dials are complete garbage. They made the F01 and G11 look cheap. This is still a downgrade from the black panel display though. Why can't we just have that exactly? If they want a screen to be classy then they have to keep the analog style dials sticking out the middle of it.

THIS... with dials... is what we all actually want:

All new BMW's now have lock and unlock buttons on the drivers door.
The G30 has it on the passenger door aswell

I see, I missed that on the pictures in this post. By 'all new' I presume you mean 'newer than the F10 as far as 5 series are concerned' ? My F10 has it next to the Hazard light switch

And the button you show appears to only lock a single door, not all doors and the rear boot.

So what about the button next to the hazard button in the FIRST picture in this thread... it has a lock on it which implies central locking... only the M Sport trim does not have this button...

Thanks
