THANK YOU! I seriously thought I was the only one that was going to comment about this....

I swear to god, BMW M division is now officially worthless. They've milked the brand for far too long during these last 5 years. From the M2353894i to all the extra M badging on the most basic models.

Seriously, WTF is this bullshit?!

This is the kind of shit kids buy off of eBay to put onto their broken E46 328i's. BMW now makes factory poser cars. In 10-20 years when kids pick up used G30's off Craigslist, they won't need to put M vinyls and badges on them.

Sorry, I had to vent. /rant

Interior looks nice, not a fan of kidney grilles becoming bigger than the headlights with each generation.
How about this winner right here

Well I wouldn't mind a M for me and entertainment for the kids in the back - just remember to look out of the windows once in a while or my M-driving might make you sick

Love this design style, even with all the haters angry because it's not too drastically different. I think they have room to step up their game with certain finishes and materials, but you have to admit they still mostly cater to their base and you can't fault them for that.

In other news, no hockey stick on the side door! Small victories

the wheel is a miss a big one.

That's exactly the problem, the blocky silver trim that looks preschoolish. Just change that to all black in an m5 and it'll be great.
I completely agree! Give me that steering wheel with black/carbon fiber trim and it would look way better. All I need to see on the new M5 to be sold is:
1. M mirrors ??
2.Thinner shift paddles
3. Unique seats (think x5m)
4. Aggressive rear end
5. 600+ horsepower, AWD (w/ rear bias), 400 pounds lighter, carbon fiber roof...and a few other minor details ????
Damn that sounds like ///Municorn. Lol

I like the look of the g30 more and more, every time I see it. however, the M badge on the fender needs to go. I have never agreed with bmw putting M badges on non M cars. to real enthusiasts M badges on a non M are a big no nobody, so why is bmw doing it themselves. yes, I drive an Msport, but if I had the choice my door sills, steering wheel, and wheels would not have an M badge, it's an Msport not an M

I like most about it, nice "evolution" design on exterior.
I mentioned in another thread, I wish dashboard was more modern redesign rather than another "evolution" on what I feel was already dated look of dash and center console.

That steering wheel, and this is subjective of course and just my personal opinion, does not belong in luxury German vehicle, regardless of the brand. Cheep looking plastic trim completely ruins it for me. Looks like something I'd expect to see in Honda Civic, not BMW 5 series.

Just already missing the standard dashboard. Don't understand why they are not offering it, since it was one of the most beautiful and most recognizable dashboards on the market.

Yes they did a good job on the hood.
Also love how it finally joins the kidney grilles again.
"Pedestrian safety" was indeed just a sorry excuse for a poor afterthought design.

I have been saying the same thing from the F platform. This is the way it was suppose to look. it's about time!

Stunning is really the only way I could describe this car. It looks amazing in gray too. The lines and the 3d hoffmeister kink really stand out in this color. I do have to agree that the M sport badge on the side looks incredibly cheap. One of the reasons I love BMW is that there really haven't been many/any badges on vehicles with M sport packages. That's something Mercedes and Audi do.

On the G30, I would just replace windows buttons with real metal ones, and that would be sufficient in my opinion.
I think he is confused with metal colour painted plastic buttons and switches in Audi/BMW vs real solid metal in Merc.

I'm not even a Merc fanboy but i give them credit for giving attention to details. Meanwhile, BMW is still making cars with disgusting halogen headlights as standard on 2017 3 Series and even the 2017 5 Series large executive luxury vehicle come with halogen reverse light. Just WTF really!!!
Bmw is using market segmentation to distinguish its customers. Halogen lights can attract buyer A, xenon lights can attract buyer B, and LED can attract buyer C. However, A,B and C have a different buying power. If BMW just sells Cars with LED lights, then likely we won't be able to drive BMW now, because they won't have enough market share. Think this way, why Lamborghini, Bentley and RR all had been acquired by other "cheap" car companies?

Is it really that big of a deal. What is a big deal is how the car drives. You don't buy badging. You buy a car
Have you not seen all of the 2, 3, 4 series with "M-Performance" decals and other crap? The US market will definitely still be getting these M-whored out cars.

Yes, it is a big deal to me and, I'm willing to bet, a lot of other enthusiasts, especially M collectors. The brand is literally being watered down in front of us and just doesn't carry the same weight it once did.
Audi has the A4, S4 and RS4 . Mercedes now has its c300, C45 AMG and c63 AMG.

If anything, BMW is late to the game with its performance branding if you ask me. Why do you think there is now a 230i, M240i and M2. Soon, I'm sure there will be a 330i, M340i and M3.

They simply have to follow the trends just like everyone else in order to remain competitive. And if that means that the larger engine model becomes more of a midway point between the base model and an M car like Mercedes and Audi have done, and even BMW with the M240i, than isn't that better for all of us who enjoy driving?

If you don't like the M badge on the side, take it off. But let's hope that BMW planting that badge on there means they are actually taking some measures to make the car a little better. Even if that means a thicker steering wheel, stickier tires and some additional air intake.

($.02 from an e46 owner with zero M badges)

All that glitters is not gold or in Mercedes case, metal.

Nothing changed, so I don't know why people are complaining about.

For as I'm concerned they can make whatever they want and put their badge wherever they want as long as M3 and M5 are some of the best and quickest cars on the market. Real BMW enthusiasts will always know the difference, while those less interested or with less money would still be able to enjoy a small piece of the most powerful letter in the world.
